just got manhatten 8.9" LCD

ouch. I talked to them last week and it sounded like the price was going to stay the same for a while. Will see if that happens...

I just bought one yesterday and they said the price was going to go up... They are also going to be producing a B series and a C series as well as plans for native 720p resolution ones..

I tell you what. BUY ONE. BUY ONE NOW!!!! First off. The people selling these are really really good, honest people. I met him at his house yesterday at 9pm. Very accomodating... and very open to going above and beyond. He had one ready to show me and compared it to the one 720p version... I decided to go with the cheaper one since it's much smaller and soon they will have a hood/shade for it for like 40 bucks..... I also bought the Tekkeon battery which is simply the coolest thing I've bought in a while...

OVERALL.. this monior is so so so nice. Professional look and design. They really spent some time on this and the picture is just awesome. Better than the marshall HD monitor that is 3 times the price. If you are buying the Marshall now you might qualify for smuck of the year. It's also so much of a better design and quality than the Ikan. That monitor is CRAP!!! This thing really delivers and at this price it doesn't bother me as much when people touch the screen and/or if it gets scratched. It's a field monitor.. Crap happens.

Overall though it's definitely good for focusing and overal composition. The colors seem very accurate and a good depiction. I'll spend more time dialing it in.. but man alive is so nice to have a monitor without breaking the bank. It's also totally light enough to put on the camera or on a noga arm or such. Today I shot some RC helicopter stuff and feed the downlink directly to the monitor and it was simply awesome.. Awesome awesome. I'm not sure how long it will run off the Tekkeon but I"m thinking a few hours at a minimum. I personally want to buy more of these batteries.. they are awesome....

Highly recommend it. The only one thing that I think they can improve on is that they could put a couple of extra set screws on the back case. There's a little play in the middle.. but that's just a small thing and just a slight modification.. Overall simply awesome for what it is and how it's priced...

I'm also so happy to give my money to REAL individuals. They started out on DIY forums and delivered for its customers. I wish them the best and I believe that no one here would be upset in getting a nice monitor at a great price. I know they are also working on an SDI version too.

cheers all and I'll post some pics or such later but overall it's a great thing!!!!

yes, the tekkeon battery is on my purchase list. as well as a noga arm. but i'm very happy with my monitor and the quality of the product. i'm def anticipating the release of the monitor hood.

I built a 10.6" DIY monitor last year from parts obtained from ManhattanLCD.

At the time, this was the smallest display available (from them). Unfortunately, i had to fabricate my own case, but it looks pretty damn good. It's great that you can now buy a prefabricated monitor from them for just a little more. If I recall, I paid $350 or so for the display and controller board. Then I had to purchase an aluminum case ($30) and modify it to fit the parts.

I would have gladly paid a little more for this version.

BTW, I use the tekkeon battery as well. It's a nice solution and I can use it on my FS-100 too, if need be.

here is a intresting question, does this monitor display camera information like the marshall does, you know markers and numbers that are on the camera lcd, does this monitor display that? I wonder why some monitors display that info and some dont ???

ok, I just bought one of these, to good to pass up. I'm selling my HV30 for this monitor. Time to put the credit card away for a while and pray for work.

Well I believe that is the price NOW. I squeaked in and bought one for 425... maybe an Orlando resident discount.

I got to see the prototype lens hood and man it's awesome!!! Hard plastic that will fold down and be a great option.. and should be easy to transport.

To the guy selling the HV30.. maybe keep it as now you'll have a good LCD to see your footie on. The HV20/30 LCD and viewfinder are so small...

Either way, you can't beat this for price and workmanship. I would expect to see them constantly sold out and on back-order. I say thank GOD. I wouldn't have ever minded buying a nice 2k monitor from Panny if I needed it.. or others.. but I would never see the merit of buying the Ikan or the Marshall. Especially the marshall.. I was so underwhelmed with that monitor and overwhelmed with the price.. and lack of power options.. etc.

cheers and it's a sweet piece of gear and FINALLY afordalbe without having to DIY. I would gladly pay a hundred bucks for someone else to do the assembly and all that crap. I would probably burn myself or shock the hell out of me. .

guys.. they say they have two left as a bundle with the Tekkeon. I'd jump on this if you want one... cheers

I'm so excited to get my monitor after reading what you have to say about it. I have an hpx170/Rerdrock setup and this monitor will complete the setup. Like you, I have used a Marshall, and while it is a nice monitor, I could never justify spending that much. Hopefully this stacks up well to the Marshall. Once I get my Manhattan, I'll do some side by side comparisons with a Marshall.

i'll be testing it focus abilities on wednesday during a shoot. i'll let you guys know how it goes. i picked up an HDMI cable but i didn't bring the monitor home with me over the weekend.

my monitor didn't come in a production case, came in a nice fedex box with foam padding. but it will work for a short time. i plan to get a pelican case for my 35 adapter gear.

I'll let everyone know too. I have a few shoots planned. I would love to be able to buy a portabrace monitor case for this.. but might end up just having the wife make something. Cheaper
