Darkline Entertainment Presents 'Broadcast'

I gotta be honest here, this is hands down my favorite film so far both visually and story wise.. right up until the end... the lack of any sense of closer made me feel like I just watched a 6 minute featurette for the full length version and it left me wanting more in a way that I cant tell if I liked or not...lol

WOW! That one blows me away!

Great talents at work. Realy dig the VFX of destroyed buildings and all.
Hollywood class - full score!

I eat my boom if this one is not in the top 3.

Technically.... this film is flawless! Top of the Fest from what I've seen thus far. The cinematography was beautiful, every single frame!

I only wish the story held more. I've seen this theme many times, right down to the "Survivors inside" banner.

Still, you managed to create a mood and suck me in none the less. You will be getting a perfect rating from me and I don't give out too many.

Well done.

Mike

Technically flawless.. I knew it was a red by 2 seconds in... I think i need to watch again...

I loved it! And that's not just because I love jazz.

Loved the cinematography, sound design... My favorite so far.

Thank you for all the comments. I'll try to reply in more detail tomorrow. Just got back from a halloween party and bed is calling me. More importantly ive got a ton of films to watch on and comment tomorrow :-)

have fun everyone.

Whoa, most excellent film.

Every frame of this was really wicked. This film had a real touch to it - shot beautifully. Very haunting.

The shots were all excellent. Really good contrast. Great production values. Loved the shot pulling back from the guy on top of the building, that was awesome. And some of those empty street shots, backyard shots, all great. Really nice.

Great VFX! Added a lot to the film.

The sound design was also very well done, I loved how the sound and music worked together like that, constantly changing.

Great watch, held my attention the whole time.

Yo I loved this flick. I didn't know where it was going all the way to the end. I didn't know what to expect but I thought of ET when things started happening around him. :)
Great movie and it definitely felt like a clip out of a feature. Good Luck.

So I'm basically echoing everyone else in here but- production value was out of the roof. Even the shot with the hand and the coffee cup was stellar. Editing was superb as well. I loved the juxtaposition of the before/after city scenes. The only (relatively, so it was still great!) weak area for me was the story... when things started happening all around him, it didn't seem to make much sense to me. However, I may just need to watch it again. One way or the other... friggin epic film man! Great job! I've watched at least half of the films and I gotta say...this one is definitely a finalist.

P.S. - Can someone post in a spoiler alerted paragraph what the ending is?

This piece was very well put together. Cinematography, sound were both very strong. And I just saw this was shot on Red, but I dont believe either of the above had much to do with that at all. This would have looked solid on a DVX. The composites were exceptional.

Story was a bit of a let down in comparison. I liked the way some parts played out, but we were led into his world and where its at, and it didnt really go much further.

This by far is my favorite Twilightfest entry. I've watched them all for the first time. I plan to watch again in a few days or so. You have a great script, great filming techinque, and an overall as thetically great short here! It started out great, lacked in the middle, but ended fairly creepy and eerie! I'm not a fan of that shot of the building with the "Survivor Inside" sign hanging, it looked composited to my eyes. I would also think that if I were alone and stranded, I'd talk to myself some more. Anyway, I love this! Keep doing what you're doing!

My jaw was agape pretty much the whole time. Cutting from the "perfect" world to the "dead" world worked fantastic. The end really freaked me out and I got chills.

loved the moment when the phone ran and he drops the pen. Elegant! The suspense was killing me.
Some of the FX work didn't quite have that million dollar look, but very close.

Within 1/2 second I knew it was going to be awesome, and it was.
Congrats!!

Great film!! The VFX work was great and belivable and all those street shots and the one with the police card wow. Congrats!

I really want to find a fault in this picture and if there is anything I could find it is that it is similar to 28 days but, you know what.... I FREAKING LOVED THIS FILM!!!!!! I didn't even write notes, i just got caught up in the movie and didn't want it to end. I want to see what got him in the end!!!! Sell this thing, there is a feature waiting to be made. Great JOB!

Some great work!

Well executed with some great visual pieces.

Im torn on the end. Half of me loves the suspense of it and the other half really wants to know what happened.

Wow! I've always liked your work, but the images produced in Broadcast blew my mind. You have an incredible gift for framing and art direction. Fantastic camera work, grading, lighting, pacing, and acting. It left me wanting more...

The best I've viewed so far. Darkline, you've got what it takes.

interesting story, (and i loved it) liked the acting.

Loved the lighting and shots outdoor (people and contrasting emptiness), but not so much indoor with the main character.

One little grip: i think that when he received that call it would have been a bigger deal for him. Like i would have ran to the phone.

i love the way time and space mix. CG and composite worked well. great contrast
Loved the ending and what u did with the sound. (especially at the end) black screen is very lynch, great!
