hey guys . this is a short film we shot for george a romeros diray of the dead contest. we didnt win.:( but...i think it came out great. we shot it in about 3 hours. edited in 2. sound effects. probably about the same time. shot in on a dvx100a, sgpro rev 3 and nikon lenses. 20mm 28mm and 50mm. sorry for the youtube quality.

it was done very quickly and if i had more time i would have def done some more stuff. shot wise. acting wise. but it is what it is. so check it out and def would love feedback.

that was very good for being made quickly. did you light the room? cause when i shoot indoors with my sgpro it is always so much more difficult, even with all the house lights turned on

Damn you could never tell that was dv footage that sgpro kicks so much ass it's ridiculous great job. interested to know what you use for lightning and also in camera settings.

thanks for the kind words. actually that was pretty much shot with all natruel lighting coming in through the windows and the doors. i didnt use any lights. thanks to the overcast day and the snow which made brighter, the lights coming in from the windows pretty much did the job. and that was the look i was going for so thankfully, it worked out.

sgpro really does well in low light conditions. i aslo knew that the house would be lit well becaue i knew how light enters.

my dvx settings. were detail level -4 and master ped -6 everything else zero.

Wow!! That was so awesome! Very intense, haha! Picture was brilliant, especially for youtube. That girl was an excellent actress. What was your edit and CC done with?

Great little short. I just got Diary of the dead and was watching the winners, and this was up there with them, in my opinion. Music, was it from 'the shining?'

thanks, appreciate the nice comments. well i edited on adobe premiere pro 2.0, cc with magic bullet. yeah pamela did a great job. she knew exactly how to handle the short making it very realistic.

thanks lake films. yeah i think we should have at least made the top 5. but thats how it goes. yes and the music was from the shinning. i was so pressed for time to get the film in for the competition that i use some temp music. it worked so well that i left it in.

This was rad ! Really, a lot of fun.

I love the hand held (for once) and the falred out windows really helped the mood. Your actress was great !

I want to see more now.

Hey,

Nicely done. The silhouette shots were fantastic and editing was well paced (similar to the Bourne series).

With the sgpro, did you find that you had to open up the iris much further?

Keep up the good work,

manymoosh

Heh this is my first post on DVXuser in several months.

Anyway, not to be a wet blanket - the look was nice and i felt it worked well, however personally i wasn't a fan of the chaotic camerawork. I felt it was a bit overdone, and that some bits could have been tightened up a bit, however considering your time constraints, it was very well done.

yeah thanks for feedback. i wish i could have more time to get some more static shots. but in the end...the only way to really do it was handheld. in my opinion i dont think the hand held was that chaotic. but thats me. thanks again.

manymoosh. yeah i had the iris open all the way on it since i had no lights what so ever except for the day light coming in. i think if i had an actual light set up i could have closed the iris some what.

Really good Camera work and directing. I like the style but didn't care too much for so much rack focus. Good job.

looked good. I'm a bit torn about the story. obviously this was more or less supposed to be real time, but I wish there had been some more plot to it. maybe a quick shot of them outside the room or something, but over all, awesome job. i love zombie flicks.

thanks for looking at it.

basically the idea was to sort of have a scene that might have been taken out of a longer film. really no beginning and no end just showing the middle. the contest was for a 3 min film. so this is the longer version. but thats ultimately what we went for.

very nice work. especially for putting it together quickly.. it was a little predictable but i think that sometimes goes hand in hand with zombie films. anyway, loved it, cant wait to see more from you and the sgpro.

Always love a zombie flick but I couldn't get into this one .
too much hand held movement , in/ out of focus was used way to much .
Acting from the female was great , the Zombie outside didn't convince me he was a Zombie .
I think some close ups should have been used as well.
Liked the washed out windows effect.
Music was very good .
Overall not bad for a 3 hr shoot.
