The Incredible Hulk (2008)

When you say that Star Wars and Jaws are doing the same thing, that's simply not true. It's true in the sense that those movies and their sequels are similar. But they're continuations of a storyline. This Hulk movie is not that.
That's simply not true at all.

The only reason why some people are getting confused in this thread is because you are confusing them. This movie will be about the Hulk, yes. That's where the similarities to the first one will end.

Obviously, not everybody has been following this movie's development from day one. Since I have way too much time on my hands and a childhood obsession with comics, I have... and so have a couple others. However, that doesn't stop other folks from making assumptions, and you know what happens when you "assume".

Now, I can lay some of the blame on the studio for not taking a stronger approach to marketing this as a continuing saga, not a reboot or remake as others firmly believe it to be.

Like I said, if they had simply called it "Hulk 2," no one would be confused. I think some people are going out of their way to BE confused.

They do the same thing in comic

The Amazing Spider-man
The Speculator Spider-man
The Web of Spider-Man
Spider-Man
Peter Parker: Spider-Man
Ultimate Spider-Man
Sensational Spider-Man

What if they started doing that like the next xmen is call the Uncanny X-Men

I agree but has anyone here seen a trailer? First people say that trailers give away too much, now what?

If you've seen the trailers there should be zero confusion.

Personally, I hate the "add a number to the title" idea. I welcome the originality.
Not that it's completely original, it just shows that some thought has been put into the new title.

You also have to keep in mind, they wasted a lot of good movie titles on those Direct to DVD movies with Bixby and Ferigno. Now, if they could pull those off with a better Hulk, DareDevil, Thor, they'd have it made, and really expand the Universe for hero interaction.

Yeah, it's exactly the same, just like Jaws 1 and Jaws 2 were the same. Or Halloween and Halloween 2-15 were the same. Or Rocky and Rockies 2, 3, 4 were the same.

Technically, this new Hulk movie isn't a remake. It's novel approach to sequels in which they project the 2003 Hulk movie on a screen and actually film the screen with an HD Video camera.

It's a new trend in filmmaking apparently. Very cutting edge.

Wait, so you're saying the studio is officially calling this a sequel? If so, I apologize.

If they're not, well, then I think the confusion is validated. if it's not a sequel, what is it? It can only be a "remake" or "reboot" or "reimagining". You don't do that five years later. That's the point I'm making. Nobody will care, and I think we can all agree that this movie's box office will likely prove that.

Did you ever think of the possibility, that they did everything right? People are talking about this flick. You are all talking about it. Seems like people are interested.

Somebody is confused? Good! We've got their attention. They will do some research and finally watch this movie to really see what it is.

Just my 2 cents.

basically its a restart but sequel. basically dropping the art house feel now they just go action packed.

People were confused what Gigli was supposed to be too.

I'm simply amazed at the bias that you have towards a film you have yet to see.

I frankly don't expect that much from it, but I'm not against it either.
You seem to have a chip on your shoulder concerning this project. Did you invest money into the first one?

To be honest, I do I have a bias towards it. I don't like comic book movies. I realize that they're this decade's trend and I have to live with that. But for every comic (whose story has already been told in another medium) that's turned into a movie, a new *original* screenplay does not get produced (imagine that - watching a movie from a brand new idea and enjoying a story that you've never seen before). Instead we're fed another rehash of a story we've already seen a thousand times before.

Even though I don't like them, I can respect Spiderman, Iron Man, and X-Men. But when you take a comic book and adapt it into a movie and it bombs - and are so stubborn that you actually try to remake it five years later (or reimagine it or whatever), that pisses me off. We saw you try to do this already. You failed. Now go home. Leave us be.

You're right. I think this has no business being on the summer slate. Plain and simple.

And on top of all that. Even if I was interested in a Hulk movie. It LOOKS terrible. They didn't even fix the biggest complaint about the first one. That the Hulk looks computer generated and cartooney! I mean at least if you're going to remake a movie, fix the problems from the first one!

with all due respect, c.g., i also carry a general distaste for comic book movies, but if i owned a property like 'The Incredible Hulk' (I read its Marvel's second most popular character), i'd give it a second go as well. and I think they did address the biggest complaint... that Ang Lee directed it. this time we're likely getting a 90 minute fight scene.

Exactly! It just stinks! I saw the trailer and just was like wtf?!

I actually think the CG looks pretty good... It's not necessarily photorealistic, but it looks gritting and convincing — almost like a really well-drawn comic book came to life.

The second trailer to this film really changed my perception of it; I mean, now I'm actually looking forward to its release (though, all these films are just fodder before Dark Knight comes out!).
