Any Canadians here?

Well, I'll be the stick in the mud.
Canada is what you make of it. The same as anywhere else.
Find a place you like and the world is yours.

Are you going to travel all the way across the country?

I did that years ago and it was pretty sweet. Went from Charlottetown PEI to Tofino BC over the course of the summer, one Island to the other, was pretty amazing to see the entire country (although I missed Newfoundland and have heard great things about the people and culture there), the biggest thing that stood out to me was regardless of what province, city or small town you were in, everyone was exactly the same, friendly, courteous and willing to help. My car broke down in a remote part of Ontario and I had some guy pull over and offer to help pay, just some random guy, walked up, asked if everything was alright, opened his wallet and tried to hand me like 500 bucks, I declined cos I had the money, but, I couldn't believe it, just some guy, didn't even think about it, bam here's some money, and nearly every car that passed pulled over to offer help. The only place I didn't like was Thunder Bay and that was because some asshole cop decided to search my car at the Terry Fox Memorial thinking I had a bunch of drugs in my car and then proceeded to follow me out of town, that really pissed me off (also the same day the car broke down), found that very disrespectful, the fact he pulled that **** in the parking lot where I came to check out a Canadian Hero's memorial site. It really left a bad taste in my mouth, still does.

So all in all, rest of Canada good, Thunder Bay not good.

Oh great, now I'm acting like friggin scarface. Gotta love dutch brewers.

Yeah, I hitched cross Canada too. Some good, some bad.
I spent a little time in Quebec & New Brunswick and must admit I was surprised that the horror stories I had heard (80's-90's) were just not true.
In fact not one single unpleaseant experience the time I was there.
Nothing but absolute politeness.

Be sure to stop in Nelson, BC when you are on the West coast. I've travelled around the World as well looking for a place to settle and this area is worth checking out in your journeys.

Yeah, there seems to be this myth that people in Quebec are horrible people towards anyone who speaks english, not true. Quebec is a great place to visit. Montreal is a fantastic city.

This is not the first time I hear about that myth and this is not the first time I hear about someone saying it's not true at all and even the opposite. You're welcome anytime.
