New HPX500 Pricing!

But the rebate right below it is for a $2000 "mail in rebate." Wouldn't that make the final price $8500 after the add to cart price of $10,500?

I called BH and they said that the camera was $9,999. and that you got the $2000 rebate on top of that. I checked the rebate form and all that is required is the serial number, copy of the dealers invoice and a copy of the warranty. The sales rep at BH said you did not have to buy a kit or anything other than the camera body, and the rebate form made no mention of needing to purchase anything other than the camera body. So you can now get a brand new HPX500 for $7,999 with a four year warranty.

Remember though, that prior to the rebate, the kit included 4 16GB cards (or at least mine did). It looks like they have discontinued that deal in favor of the rebate.

Personally, I WOULD NOT buy a kit that includes 4 16 GB cards. The kits I've seen don't discount the price of the cards beyond normal retail prices, and the 32GB card offers about the same price per GB as the 16s do.

So....I'd rather buy 2 32 GB cards for $3200 rather than 4 16 GBs for the same price. That way, I've still got room to add two MORE cards down the road-- either two more 32 GB cards when they drop in price, or two whopping 64s in the Fall.

This is a fantastic deal for you US costumers. That's even cheaper than a Canon XL-h1...

Any reports on the Lexus b4 35mm adapter? Results? Frame grabs? Videos?

Any stories to share? Workable for commercial, Independent film? Barry? :)

I own a Brevis, and am awaiting for a good solution for the HPX to see if its worth sticking with them for the future...

7 999 seems like something I could afford WITHOUT having to sell my HVX... HVX as B cam, HPX as "a" cam...

SO what does the 2000 rebate means? They send you back the 2000 dollars, or they give you 2000 credit on Panasonic products?

In comparison to a direct $2000 discount at the time of purchase, all the benefits go the manufacturer.

They are hoping that once you open the box, that you will become so overwhelmed with your new toy that you will forget all about the rebate. That way, the manufacturer can advertise the discounted product and possibly not have to pay out the cash.

In addition, if you do fill out the rebate form and send it off, they or the clearing house sits on the money for 8-12 weeks and acquires loads of personal data on the buyer.

I personally hate the whole rebate thing (As I'm sure most do), but $2000 is $2000, so we jump through the hoops to get it.

I don't think anybody's going to forget submitting the rebate for $2,000. However, I would photograph, scan, and photocopy everything and send it certified mail. Many Canon DSLR/lens rebate seekers were jerked around by Young America Corporation, which facilitated the rebate program. Young America claimed in many cases that they didn't receive rebates or that documentation was missing, etc. You can go to www.dpreview.com and search for Canon Rebate and you will see so many posts that it can't be a fluke. Canon since started giving instant rebates. Be careful and document EVERYTHING. The be vigilant with your mail so the rebate check doesn't get lost in all the junkmail.

Hope you're not in a hurry to receive your rebate. It took 5 months to collect mine for the Panasonic 17" LCD. The envelope looked like junk mail and I nearly threw it out.

Don't forget you guys have the Letus Relay option comin' up! Be able to use all the primes you want!

Whats the absolute cheapest way to get a lens on this camera?

The lowest cost HD CAC lens is made by Canon and is a 20X8.5. Our price is $7500. Barry is right. Many of our clients are getting by with their old SD lens or getting one online that is used until they make enough money for an HD lens.
