Buy a used SD lens on ebay for under $1,000; there's other threads here talking about that approach. Not that I'm endorsing that route, but several users here seem quite happy with that approach.

hmmm I didn't think you would say 1K for a lens even if SD. Now most search for threads of people using SD lenses. There aren't any restriction to the usage of this camera right? Meaning most TV stations would take complete projects shot with it?

There are some people that are using SD lenses and are quite happy with them. I have not tried one myself.

I'm not aware of TV stations that have any problems with the 500. WE have shot several TVC's with them and everyone has been very happy with the results. There are a couple of cable networks that have the minimum requirements ratcheted up there out of reach, but I have also heard some say that they are still taking footage from the 500's.

SD lenses work beautifully on this camera. We have 2x 500's with $125 Used Canon Lenses. They work great. I own them and use them every day. Look at the pictures I and others have posted in the top thread of this section of this forum. You'll be very pleased.
