Wonder what the next fest will be...

If it's NoirFest I really hope they give another minute or two of run-time as noir films lend themselves to plot-heavy material, which is hard to do in 6 minutes and extremely hard to edit shorter while still having films make sense.

Granted that does dramatically increase the time it takes to watch all of them.

I doubt we'll see an increse in running time.

At near 50 films this fest, that's 5 hours of non stop viewing at 6min each. And at 50MB a shot, that's a potential 2.5GB of data - that's a LOT to download. (And a hell of a lot more to to distribute.)

Correct you are, Mikko. And it really doesn't matter what the Genre OR Theme is, there will be complaints that it can't be done in 6 minutes. I'm glad we got that 6th minute back for this one...

Pitch Fest or EPK Fest -- Create a trailer and a video pitch for a feature length movie or an Electronic Press Kit to shop your idea around.

Teach everyone a whole different perspective on their craft: the marketing side. :D

Hmmm.... that's not a bad idea. Th limit would have to be a minute or so. A 5 minute trailer would be lame.

Good idea.

I love Noir as well...a Noir Fest would be awesome.

I do agree with Luis as well. Theme Fests do allow for more creativity.

Yeah I think film noir might end up with too many similar entries. People could have made noir for love fest if they really wanted to.

Of course that could be said for just about everything.

People could have made a Sci-Fi film for love fest, or a comedy, or even a silent film if they wanted to.

Really... love exists in just about everything we know.

I may go Sci-Fi for the next one irregardless of what it is.

On about EPK/Trailer Fest--

Actually, about three to five is a good time for an EPK style Trailer. Where you have Director and Writer interviews inter weaved with production stills, video, or the trailer itself.

You pretty much talk about the story, it's value, where it came from etc. and make an attempt at SELLING the story to the audience or the Press or someone that's going to back you financially.

I stated this before, but, when I watched ON THE LOT (rarely did) I saw something TERRIBLE in the way that the filmmakers tried to pitch themselves. That is, they couldn't! It's such a HUGE part of being a filmmaker, the pitch, and most of us are too shy to step out there and sell sell sell.

Some of us can't even figure out what our story is about. Some of us could brush up on our dynamic language and speech delivery.

And the top three that make YOU want to put money down to exec produce, or that you REALLY want to see produced would be, well, the top three.

:D

You know, EPK/Trailer Fest could actually have 2 rounds...

First open to all, as sugested above - which in itself would be cool. AdFest was great, and another short one would be fun I think.

THEN. The top, say 5, after a standard general vote, get longer (15 - 20 min perhaps? [or even more? 3 films at 45 mins?]) to actually make it as a 2nd round, with voting and a grand prize. (The rest of us could then have a new regular 'fest alongside this stage)
