Hello,

Last month I bought a HP laptop with Vista and today arrived my Duel Adapter, so I tested a 8 gb card transfer from P2 to laptop internal harddrive using the express card adapter.
I got the 7.5 gb copy in:
P2 to internal HD: 3 minutes
P2 to external USB WD passport drive: 5 minutes and 20 seconds

Looks fast, but is my procedure of just drag&drop the contents folder and lastclip.txt to another drive ok or should I use a management software for the transfer ?

Thanks,
Ulisses

Panasonic recommends you use P2CMS to do the transfer.

I just do a drag 'n' drop, and have never found any reason why not to. But P2CMS can also do a bit-for-bit copy verification step, which drag 'n' drop doesn't do.

Those are pretty smoking times, man. Faster than I get. I get 4-5 minutes for an 8 gig... 3 minutes is smoking fast.

I downloaded P2CMS but I can't install it on Vista...

or am I doing something wrong ?

P2CMS is very different. P2 Genie is essentially a mindless Drag & Drop. P2CMS has metadata editing capabilities and also Transfer verification with a viewer.

Yes it's free, it's Panasonic's P2 Contents Management System software, and you download it from Panasonic's website. Just google "P2CMS download".

I timed the offload of a complelty full 16GB card in 7min15sec on a brand new LG E500 laptop running XP Pro, using regular Drag-'N-Drop to copy.
P2 in PCMCIA slot, to the laptop's internal drive.

Last week I offloaded a 16 gig p2 card full in like 5 minutes to my laptop. I was shocked. That was an exception to my usual offload times, which are around 8 minutes for a full 16 gig card...

I've gotten some 9 minute flat downloads using a P2 Gear as a reader over USB 2 through my mac book running leopard to an external HD . While I wouldn't mind a 5 minute download time, I was more than pleased with the 9 minute time over USB.
