XHA1 and Letus Extreme

I am double dipping here but...

I put this in the 35mm adapter area but I don't know if you guys ever check that. This is a softbox key set up with 2x 250w spots for fill and rim lighting...testing the adapter. The softbox is deliberately in the shot to show the position.

1080 version:

Both files are around 160mb... Sorry so big but I want to show as close to the original as possible. Anything can be made to look good if it's rendered out to a tiny file.

Stunning quality there! My A1 just arrived today!! Looking thru the manual as I am checking here. Cant spend any money right now but the letus Extreme appears to be worth every penny! Thanks for posting.

Beautiful, I have nothing more to say.

Okay one more thing...

The image coming from the xh a1 is mind blowing.

Just one more...

Keep up the good work!

Wow! that was amazing ....
What's the lighting setup you have there... just 2 250w ..what brand/type of light is that ? Also in one part there was a dolly effect ..how was that done...is it just zoom? I am a newbee and would appreciate any suggestions.

Can you post the lenses you are using... I am still going back and forth on the brand of 35mm adapter. Also a pic of your rig to check how it looks...
Did you have to buy any additional equipment to set Letus up on the canon XhA1?

Hey disjecta,

Wow, footage keeps getting better.

Ordered my Letus last week before I heard about the mods. Do you know if the current shipping will include the modified extremes with the light in the rear instead of in the front of the unit, and I also heard about support upgrades? I should recieve my Letus in 2 weeks.

Just saw a post from DeGrey at LetusDirect.com that said all the units will have the updates (rear-based LED, etc)

Yes, I set up about 3 or 4 feet of dolly tracking just to add interest to the shots.

ECUs were shot with a Nikon 100mm f2.8 lens. Mediums were with a Nikon 50mm f1.8 and wide shots with a Nikon 28mm f2.8

Thanks for the comments.

I am blown away by this adapter. Truly amazing. I know I've seen reports where the Brevis states .5 stop light loss but in comparison, this looks like the real deal -

Beautiful footage.

When did the Letus Extreme come out? Forgive me for sleeping while this happened, but what's the difference between the Extreme and the Flip Enhanced?

Steven, you used to own the Flip Enhanced right?

I ask because that footage is mind-bogglingly good. It helps that you have a charming and colorful subject of course. :)

Mirezzi,

The Extreme is a brand new release from Letus. It is head and shoulders above the Flip Enhanced in build and quality. It looks and feels professional (metal as opposed to plastic). Check www.adapterplace.com or www.letusdirect.com for full details.

The difference, in a nutshell, is that the FE is a good adapter for most applications but the Extreme takes it to a new level of professionalism and it can easily compete with the other big names out there, including the highly priced MovieTube and Mini35.

Right now, it's the only adapter in it's class that offers a built in flip system. The Extreme is using a prism now instead of the mirrors of the FE.

Can you shoot some footage with the Letus and the same footage without the Letus so we can really see the difference.

Thanks a TON!!

That'd be awesome if Disjecta would shoot a side-by-side.

However, he has already shot a bunch of test footage and he isn't working for Letus and does have other things to do.

Steven, take your time. You have already provided us with a lot.

By the way I've probably watched "tarasoftbox" and "taraextreme" 100 times each.

I would die to have this adapter.

Letus Extreme

Letus Extreme

With a 35mm adapter like letus Ex and the lense that you would use with the Letus. Do you now have to focus both the XH-A1 built in lense and the manual lense on the Adapter? How difficult is that?
This may sound stupid to some...but I have not used a 35mm adapter and would like to understand the accepted usage model for a 35mm adapter like Letus Ex with a canon xh-A1.
Thank you.

Basically, a 35mm adapter projects a little picture from the Nikon or whatever lens you are using onto a mini movie screen (made from ground glass). You focus your camera on that mini screen and lock the focus. You will not need to make any more focus adjustments with your camera. From there on, you are focusing only with the lens you have attached to the adapter.
