JVC Monitor

Im really glad someone has started a recent thread on monitors. I was looking at getting a second hand Sony PVM-9042QM monitor that i could use for post production and out when filming using the 12v input. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a decent, competitive place that sold batteries and connecting cables for batteries etc... for this monitor. Im not sure on what to go for cos this is really my first experience of battery powered monitors. If anyone knows of a place in the UK to buy this sorta stuff it would be great!

Mine seems to work fine (despite my posts in the Vegas forum...imy probs are not the monitor's fault.)

That price seems a bit...um...er...pricey to me, though.

B&H was much less, even with shipping (US Mail).

If they can get you a non-120VAC model, unless you don't mind running a transformer for it.

Daveroberts try CVP in the link above iv'e bought stuff from them before they are pricey but their support and service are great.

hi nicholasraeburn

thanks for the advice on where to buy the monitor. i have to admit, i dont have alot of money to spend and 645 quid for a field monitor does frighten me somewhat!

if i can get one second hand from a reliable source i would prefer it, just because i am abit restriced on budget

still, if anyone knows anything about how u power a field monitor i would be very interested to hear from them

many thanks

I have the 17" version of that monitor. It works great and I haven't had any problems.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Think i'm gonna go with a Sony PVM 14 (found a cheap second hand one in mint condition).

Bought A Sony pvm 14m4e 800 lines 16:9/ 4:3 blue only underscan SDI option arrived today sweet little monitor.:)

Thanks for asking this question because I was also considering to purchase the JVC TM-H150 without much knowledge of other broadcast monitors or what to look for in general. But it seemed to have some nice specs and the demo model I saw had a top notch picture.

But before I go with it, I'm wondering what options are available for the expansion bay, how much they go for, and where to get them. If anyone else could point me in the direction of a reputable online dealer, that would be greatly appreciated. (As you probably already gathered, my local (USA) JVC monitor dealer does not stock any expansion boards.)

Thanks,
J~

Poor man's monitor:

- Use any CRT computer monitor. (remember? those large ones we used to like 2 years ago?) :)

- Get a S-video/Composite - to - VGA converter/*scaler* to get a signal off your camera and drive the monitor

- Voila! Great picture quality. I used this converter/scaler, happy so far (I'm not affiliated with the seller)
