Macgregor's new XL-H1 short film...

Phenomenal work. Great composition and framing. Superb color correction and grading. Nice low-key sound design.

Well done.

that was top notch.... really good

some of the whites were a tad blown but not to the point where it seriously detracted from anything..... this was a very good short

Oh my goodness. I think thats the best looking DV footage I have ever seen...Especially for HDV, man how I adore Macgregor's equipment. :crybaby:

Yes beautiful composition, lighting, editing. Thank god, for I have no other good comments.

I really liked it. But I gotta say I don't think it's his best work. Maybe it's because he was only the DP and not the director.

Simply amazing! The best adapter footage I have ever seen. He sure knows how to use it. I had kinda lost my faith in adapters until I saw this movie.
Though, I think the bokeh on the shot right after the SMILE title is a bit off. Look at the trees in the background.

The grading is excellent.

are u kidding me? He's a legend.

j/k, he's a member of the site. He's actually one of my role models in filmmaking but don't tell him that.

Wow. Just wow. Fantastic imagery. I have to say that I have been seeing a few things now that really give me faith in the digital tools we have. This really pushes the envelope. It was cinematic. It told the story it needed to tell, so bravo on that sir.

I do have a technical question for you, since I didn't get a clear answer on the comments on the other site. Was this footage captured on tape using the HDV 4:2:0 format or was it captured uncompressed to a hard drive at 4:2:2? From my viewing, I'm amazed at the clarity of the colors and am just curious what the acquisition process was.

macgregor is a similo himself. he´s ALWAYS online on my msn messenger. only a robot could do that.

hey, macgregor, how did you light:

1_ the first shot, in the bathroom (best example 00:00:11)
2_ the close shot, before he crosses the street (best example 00:00:24)
