David Stump quote after RED shoot.

Jannard

Red Leader
"The RED Mysterium sensor has finally pushed digital acquisition past the timeless 35mm film barrier in resolution and clean color fidelity". David Stump, ASC

:) That one statement certainly has to give your team a huge dose of gratification! Congratulations!

Each evening feels like the day before Christmas...
Lurking around DVXuser instead of shaking wrapped gifts...: )
Something will become yours...and all you know is that it will be REALLY great!

I'm so glad I'm on the reservation list!

Any other cameras coming to Sweden?

/Marcus

"wonder what they'll say to that on cinematography.com"

some will admit that they already have a reservation .. the hard cores will say " what the F !! heck ! how can that be ? they'll still knock it until they get a job and the producer tells them they're using RED ...

i have a list of a few locals ( SF area ) that post over there which i feel they were just too insulting to RED team .. when RED 103 arrives they will NEVER see it or use it ...

Well, I knew something good was coming, but, something of biblical proportions??!!! Absolutely wonderful news. I'm curious what Mr. Stump had to say about REDCODE. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more soon.

It's an impressive quote. Did David Stump post this comment in any publicly-accessible forum? Is there a link? I'd be interested to see any additional comments from him also.

Congratulation to all the RED's team, you guys are right up there with Martin Eberhard of Tesla Motors, Ferdinand Piëch of Buggatti (Veyron W16) and Burt Rutan with his SpaceShip One

Well we all knew that anyway... we all just have complete, dumb, blind faith heheh.

But seriously, it is great to hear an unbiased professional give such a high recommendation as this. Can't wait to see what was produced.

forgive me if I sound like a curmudgeon, but that statement does not say he thinks the camera is better than 35mm film, only that it's resolution is as high or higher than 35mm and it's colors are 'clean'. Very carefully worded it seems. Almost like a politician. Quantitative vs Qualitative.

Is there somewhere that has more text, that can't be all he said is it?

It's a quote, he probably gave an actual line for the red team to use until he publishes his report, they can sound a bit political in that sense. He wouldn't say it's better than 35mm film because it's not suppose to be. Digital is a different media and can be used in in conjuction, in opposition or even to imitate film. It doesn't escape the fact that his quote is a very positive one indeed and the fact one was given anyway is a sign that he liked very much what he saw. He'll be publishing his findings on cinematography.net i believe, probably over the next few days.

Now it's not for me to tell you how to run your publicity, but I'd say that quote needs to go front-and-centre of your website in BIG BOLD letters.

good news indeed. I am not going to lose my head over anything yet..not until that camera is in my hands. I will just hope that the ridiculous leaps and bounds the Red team keeps making continue into 07 and production! That being said, it is becoming harder and harder to maintain my optimism at the "cautious" level.

i don't think any pro is going to say they think a digital camera is "better" then 35mm film nor will they say SD is "better" then HD ..

when somebody says "better" you have to look very close at what was before it and what follows after it ...
