This is another CRAZY thing to do with you dvx!!! But I had to get it up there and high!!!

This photo shows the counter I moved to get the shot at the door grabbing the booze, my ladders at the ready and my kitty cat, Percy (short for Percival). He's such a cutie!!! (I know... TMI!)

And finally, this shot is of the taped-up molding! When I went to shoot this, it was driving me crazy that I never finished putting up the molding on this door! I had to punt!!!

There you go! A few more demonstrations of how a ladder can be quite useful on the set!

I did use my ladders to hang BLACKS for masking sunlight spills, but I guess I didn't take a photo! You'll have to use your imagination!!!

Thanks for visiting!!!

Ted

WOW ..... I'm impressed that you had the presence of mind to take these shots during your shoot! All of this further emphasizes that you have a very patient and supportive wife. Diane deserves a medal for putting up with these hijinks in her house!!!!!!!!!

Ted, you've won a ton of admirers for the quality of your work, the contributions to the community and, especially, your unflagging positive attitude and enthusiasm. For an old fart I'd say you have a few good years left in you to make some kick-ass films!

Ted,
Just wanted to say congrats on a great first film. I'm very impressed. I wish I had a half of the up-beat keep up and go attitude you have, I think a lot of us would. Now for the critique:

As most people brought up is that your audio is a little "ify". Next time having a boom guy to watch your levels and listen to ambience will be a great advantage. I actually thought your shots were pretty good for setting them on bags and mounting them to ladders.

As far was acting, I thought you did great (I think a few times would have benefitted from a second opinion watching a monitor) and I think I'm one of the few that actually liked your profanity, it felt real to me (if I thought I was seeing a ghost I 'd throw a few f-bombs around myself).

I know people have commented on the ending so I won't say much, but I think how the wife acted was out of character. I assume the napkin note on the counter was from her, so what happened within the course of the day that would go from the loving wife to the cynical wife. Maybe there is a scene missing were she finds out he is cheating? Or maybe the note itself was cynical? I know this was cut short because of time... but maybe it could just have been a horrid expression on her face and bame, The End... not sure.

Of course I'm not one to talk, sense my work isn't the best stuff in the world. Any way, great job and I can't wait to see more work from you and I'll tell you what, the first thing I'm gonna do after work is go buy a ladder:)

P.S.: Thanks for the great BTS pics.

Alrighty folks.... I have a proposition for all of you.

I need to rewrite the ending of I.D. (Also will accept kind offers from composers!!!)

There are a couple of other festivals going on that I would like to submit my film short to.

One festival has an allowable 8 minute entry. I am not sure on the other.

I am not looking to extend I.D. but I would like to fix the ending.

Many of you know that there was intentions to have a more explained ending but I just couldn't fit it in and I didn't want to leave my wife on the cutting room floor! (Seriously, I kept it in because I was too attached to by project and couldn't see the fact that the ending is very unexplained.)

So, I would like to share WHAT I was thinking and then open the floor to ideas.

ANY ORIGINAL IDEA that I use will receive a DVD of I.D. (both the existing film and the one that you upgrade for me and added to the credits (I've got plenty of room!) of the new version which will actually fade and look nice and not just be a slapped in the face as I have them now!)

So, I wrote I.D. with these two possible ending...

1) Tim approaches the Red Room hearing "You may be able to ignore them, but you cannot ignore me!" Opens the door and sees himself and hears, "Nothing like meeting your Inner Demon face to face, is there Tim?"

2) I then wrote the ending with wife coming in the house as you see (but a few more seconds longer with a clip where she picks up the phone on the floor and calls for Tim). She goes down stairs and sees Tim. (We don't see that he is dead at this point) She say's "There you are!" Takes her cell phone and dials a number. She speaks into phone, "I don't know what you did, but it worked... The lying, cheating sack of sh*t killed himself." Then she has a look of confusion on her face and says, "What? what do---- Hello? Hello?" Door slams, room turns red and she screams. Thus, her Inner Demon has begun to haunt her. (At an initial point, I had Tim's Eyes opening on her as she screamed but that confused even me!

Well, what do you think? What is your idea?

You can write it here, which I would prefer... (my PM box is getting real full) OR you can PM me.

I would love to hear what you think.

Be creative. End it completely differently!

I really do want to hear your ideas.

And I WILL give you an "additional material provided by..." credit on the final version of I.D.

Thank you all! I really do appreciate your thoughts!!!

Ted

Oh, the eyes on the banner are from the footage I took of the Inner Demon before I changed the ending!!!

Cool pics Ted, I appreciate more now the fact that I'm not the only one that makes very temporary rigs as well. I do hardwood floors for a living, and looking at that hallway floor gives me the creeps. lol

I like idea number 2. Sorry, just got home from work, and cannot think.

In my opinion, this is a little forced, I don't think you should have to have any one say "Inner Demon", it'll be more artistic if you leave it to the imagination.

This goes back to my earlier comment on why she leaves this sweet note (I'm guessing this was used as a clue that he was married) and then she is suddenly glad he is dead and talking to who knows who. I like the idea she was some how involved but that would take a lot more time to explain (extra scenes of maybe her calling him pretending to be the "other girl" just to torment him, but then his own imagination takes over)

Possible ending 1:
But, I think you are still going to do the inner demon thing with the wife, I think it would work great if the wife had killed the husband, threw him in the basement, went to work, came home, and then goes and burries him next to the woman he cheated with. You could end it with a shot of two mounds of dirt. You could start the movie with her coming out from the basement grabbing her keys and heading out the door, then you cut to the grave yard. This option would require a lot more then just changing the ending:(

Possible Ending 2:
When he opens the door at the end and see himself dead... you don't see him dead yet. You see his horrid expression, then maybe a pov of him starting to look down but all you see is a blood splatter before it is cut back to his face still looking down and then some kind of crazy noise or video effect and then black. Fade up to wife coming home. She walks down the stairs and opens the door, another pov, we see the same blood splatter and we finally see the pan all the way down and see him dead. The surprise would be him being dead.

Well, those are the off the top of my head ideas (and are more like rants really)... if I come up with any more I'll let you know.

Hey, hey, hey... we're on our way! Thanks. Keep them coming!!!

And I agree, the first one on my post was dumped because it was too forced. Just wanted people to see an bit of an evolution.

After shooting the red door approach scene, I felt that those lines were pretty much spoken in images.

Thanks again.... KEEP THEM COMING!!! :)

Or...

The wife goes next door to Tim's sex kitten, with a tuppaware box. Saying "Hey, I know we've not talked much but I just wanted to welcome you to the neighbourhood with this..."

CU of tuppaware container, drop of blood, that she wipes away with her thumb.

CU wife, with one of those huge smiles.

FADE OUT.

ROFL!!!!

At first, I thought that you were going down the road of the MM Tuppaware scene!!!

Oh, priceless!

THEN tupperware comes flying from the bushes and a 666 mysteriously begins smoldering in the lawn.

Oh, and good job keeping up your MovieMaster alter ego, Ted. I think at least half of the people here still don't realize you are the same person.

Submitted for your consideration:

Several members on this site have alter-ego identies and this is generally permitted provided there isn't any underhanded use or misrepresentation going on. According to those who have access to user ip numbers (that permit identifying different users as being on the same machine) the bst example is a user who goes by name theaterguy who at the same time portrays himself a completely diffeent identity purportedly on the opposite coast called MovieMaster. Its a brilliant approach and is all tongue in cheek and harmless fun.

Hmm.. I don't know Ted... maybe you are movie master and you don't even know it... Perhaps you're struggling with your very own Inner Demon, whose manifestation arises through the alter ego of movie master.

Do you experience black outs? Small stretches of time where you cannot recollect where you were or what you were doing? I think you should rig up your camera and videotape yourself; put yourself under surveillance. See what happens and report back to us pronto!
