Jarred could use it to locate all the DVXusers that live near the Red offices. It uses their ISP#s and places them on a google map. Chances are that the thieves are dvxusers. See what dvxuser lives close to Red offices and logg on a lot.

Reality check..

I asked Jim about the details of the theft. He did not answer, and for good reason.. We are not a part of the company and the only ones who need to know the details are RED and the Police. I know Jim asked for help, but I think the only thing any of us can do is talk about it to anyone and everyone we know..Shine a big bright light on all this so the people who did it cannot come out without being seen,

We do not know anything.. We don't know what was taken, or how much. We don't know if the job was professional or just some idiots. The fact they they came in and took only RED related stuff would point to some planning.

So my point is this, the only thing we can all do is talk about it to everyone we know.. Keep our eyes open and if ANYTHING "Red like" shows up on E-bay, or any sudden announcements of a "breakthrough" come about, share them with Jim. Unless he asks us to do something more specific.

This is shitty on so many levels. In my opinion the worst kind of criminals are child molesters and thieves. These are not crimes of passion, but deliberate crimes from deliberate minds.

Very sorry to hear about this. I hope you had security cameras to get a glimpse of these assholes.

As others have said, however, one bright side to this is that know you are doing something right when others are willing to break in to steal your knowledge.
 
WOW, you've got to be kidding! Well this guy will pop up real fast, especially whoever decides to buy or use it. I'll keep my eye out on ebay. It seems that's where most of these crooks go. ;)

hopefully it was something that did not directly reference or impact the technology. Regardless, this is terrible. Get someone to find these guys....I'm thinking Gary Oldman in The Professional (Leon) kind of crazy should do the trick.

I am really and truly sorry for you.

Hopefully, nothing irreplaceable was stolen.

Everyone here wants you to be successful. I have seriously enjoyed the openess in your developement process but maybe its time to keep things under wraps a little more. It seriously pains me to suggest that but if you think its for the best, we will all understand.

I would like to caution people here to avoid using company names when discussing potential industrial espionage as you are liable for your words and you may be sued by X company for libel. There was a fellow on Cinematography.com who has mentioned a certain company as possible and he may face a lawsuit if he doesnt remove his post soon. I understand everyone is pissed, but no need to put yourself on the legal line because of it.
 
...crap. unbelievable.. i dont even have words for how crappy this is. it just gives me that nasty feeling in my gut. i sincerely hope that whoever is responsible for this ends up behind bars before they even realize how stupid it was. dont let it phase you Jim and crew. it only goes to show the real world magnitude of what your creating.

Just to get it out of the way, it was probably Sony/JVC/Canon/Nikon/Dalsa/Arri/Panavision/Thomson/Grass Valley/some jerk who wanted a free camera.

Im just speechless. This is not a crime against RED, this is a crime against all of us. This news just makes me feel like ive just walked in on my own house after being burgled.

Jim, please be very careful. You may underestimate the significance of the work you are doing here being caught up in the centre of it and all. If Someone was earning Billions of dollars and had thousands of shareholders relying on them to deliver, wouldnt they do the unthinkable to protect it? I urge you to be very vigilant.. I've, We've all, heard about corporations doing some nasty things to stay #1 and I have no doubt that this was the case here. I hope that this is the end of it.

I'm going to get some people I know to do some sniffing in the dirt..
