Who is in the Red?

Joy in the morning

Joy in the morning

I'm #018. I was there first thing Monday morning. I felt just like a little six year old kid waiting to open up his brand new bike he got for Christmas. I had a few moments to speak with Jim later that morning. I mentioned to him that we were planning on shooting a feature starting early next year. He said with great confidence, "we'll have a camera for you".
I believe.

I'll be happy to have any of you check it over and get some stick time on it - with me there of course! I won't be loaning it or renting it out, but I think the sooner we have a network of RED knowledgeable shooters, the more valuable the test footage and feedback will be.

If this thing performs as advertised it should be a real blast. Any excuse to shoot is a good excuse. It'll be fun checking out the previews. I'll be kinda surprised if they ship within 9 months though.

I think a sneak preview like Jarred mentioned would be awesome in validating what we're really looking at here.

#138 Tuesday afternoon. Would have done it on the first day but had to check Silicon Imaging (too bulky/computer like) and that Vision Research which I couldnt find. NAB was pretty cool for my first time. I bought SonicFire w/ Mood mapping, a 15" Macbook pro Hoodman, and a Panavision hat. I heard last year was better in terms of new releases.

BTW, I'm not rich either. It's a $17K camera, just rent the lenses as the job requires. For me it's a goal to make $16,000 by next January. Anybody wanna buy a '84 Toyota on 33" Super Swampers?

aloha,

vince

Only if it's in Hilo Town Brah!

It seems like a lot to me. I've been working for about six months now, and am almost halfway to an HVX, so i've learned the value of a dollar.

A RED would be the coolest camera to own ever, but the investment for me wouldn't be like you guys'. You guys are pros, and will recoup the losses. I would film my own stuff and be down 20k. that's why I'm shooting for an HVX still. A RED will come my way, if I deserve it. And make more money quicker :)
