zuiko 35-100 2.0

You could probably just get away with attaching the lens to support since the camera is so light.

The lens is 3.5 pounds and so is the body (with battery, mike, monitor etc). The mount is really for up to 2 pounds=1kg. The adapter from 43 into m43 does not help either.
There is no escaping here some kind of additional plate.

You are certifiably insane if you want to use a lens that weight without support. Buck up and do it right.

(I'm about to put my Cavision baseplate + rods up for sale anyhow!)

That's a lot faster than it does on my GH2 - hunts the entire focal range and then settles on focus. Slow enough that I will probably never use autofocus with that lens on my GH2. However, the 14-35 focuses within 2-3 seconds on the GH2. So if the 35-100 is about 2 seconds on the AF100 (which is acceptable to me) I'm hoping the 14-35 will be even faster.

I had this exact same issue with my af101 (fw1.17) and 35-100mm f2 lense.
My Olympus 14-35mm f2 worked just fine out of the box, but 35-100mm didn't.
Solution was to update lens fw to newest awailable (1.2).
You can do this fw update either through panasonic cameras(like I did) or with olympus E series bodyes.
This is the site where you can find panasonic version of fw files: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/download/fts/index2.html
Hope this helps some one.
