ive noticed that when you zoom while shooting video you get a flickering sort of thing going on. im new to my camera and have heard the aperature wont allow you to zoom in or out while in video. is there anything i can do so i can zoom?

You can buy a zoom lens with a fixed aperture. You're probably using the kitlens right?
When you zoom, the lens changes aperture.
The video'll get darker and the camera wants to compensate for the loss of light (you're using auto on everything right?) That's what causes the flickering.

Try investing in e.g. a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 non VC

If it's more about the specific glass in one or the other, then just disregard this, but if someone needs a 2.8 for zooming purposes, wouldn't VC be a blessing? With my 50mm 1.8, you can't tap the camera without the video going haywire...

Yea, the non VC comment kind of has me scratching my head as well.

To be honest i can go up to 100mm without image stabilizer with a counter weighted shouldermount. But VC is usually recommended. Jooseiej said non VC cuz its sharper than the VC version...however for video it seems its not such noticable difference (from what other Op's tell me).
