Zoom speed with the remote.

How fast should the lense zoom, when doing it from the remote? I remember it going a bit faster. Actually mine zooms really slow. Not exactly creep, but damn close. Is everyone else experiencing the same thing?

I got my camera new about a month ago. I bought a new battery thinking it was dying, but it didn't help at all.

yeah, the battery has (as far as i know) nothing to do with zoom speed. the built in zoom control is ASS on the HVX. i highly suggest getting a zoe dvxl from bebob. it will change your life.

I picked up my HVX-200 from Rule Broadcasting in Boston Friday, took it out yesterday and practiced my zoompanning and zoom tilting.

Is it usual for the zoom, in high speed mode, to make enough noise to register on audio? I did have an ME66 mounted on-camera, but still, didn't anyone think of motor noise when they designed the cam?

Also this: I have no image in the viewfinder. Is there a set-up menu I have to access and program?

Thanks, folks!

Oh yes, I was proud of myself. I figured out you have to switch the cam into VCR mode to rewind the tape. The first step to becoming the next Barry Green (giggle snort)!

I haven't noticed zoom noise when mounting an me-66 to my HVX, I'll be mounting one to the camera later in the day and I'll see if i can pick out the zoom noise. What do you mean by high speed mode? simply pressing completely down on the rocker? The only part where you have settings for speed is on the zoom control on the handle.

As for the viewfinder, its normally set so that it turns off if the LCD is open, if you wish to have both open there is an option under Display towards the bottom called EVF change it from auto to on and it should remain on at all times. You can also change it from color to BW for a slightly sharper image, this can help with focus.

Don't forget the $110 Libec zoom controller.
