Zoom H4 n to Gh1

Thanks OLy. The Zoom H4n comes with a handheld plastic grip that screws into the device. Just need to get that onto the flashbracket, have some idea's. I like the height off the camera as I'm getting clicks off the apterture and camera handling if set on the camera that low.

Best built one out there, raises it 3"

Manfrotto stuff is top quality!

But if you don't have $50 to blow on a simple adapter, here's a Varizoom one that I have in my kit...$19.99 at B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/233948-REG/VariZoom_VZ_SHOE_VariZoom_VZ_Shoe_Swivel_Shoe.html

You can probably find them on eBay from China for under $10, shipped.

Actually, I like these things better for a more compact mount, when putting a recorder on top of the GH1. They're only like $5.50 SHIPPED from China. I picked up a couple of them (might have been a different seller):

Mounting the H4N to a GH1

Mounting the H4N to a GH1

The downside to doing this is that the GH1 becomes VERY top heavy and just heavy overall. If you carry the strap around your neck, the camera flips over as soon as you let go. If you haven't fixed your strap lugs, this might push it over the edge. I had planned on using this setup, but now I think I will get the Zoom H1 when it is released.

yeah I agree, will have my set up only on a Hot Rod PL or even my oldtime pistol grip that is suprisingly stable. I had to remove that strap as it was getting in the way of the monitor flipped out.

The little Yamaha CX adds very little to the GH1, fortunately. I don't really use it like this, since I usually just use the on-camera mic for sync/ambient stuff when shooting events. These recorders are so small these days, it's easier to just put the recorder close to the subject...then try to pick up audio as far away as the camera. But in the right situation, it would come in handy!
