Zoom controller not working.

I attached a Varizoom controller in the remote jack on the HVX200, but it refuses to work. It also disables all functionality to my camera (i.e., I cannot get into my menu unless I unplug it).

Is there a function or setting I need to set within the HVX menu to make this thing work?

That's not right, there is clearly an electrical problem of some sort. Even if the zoom itself doesn't work, it should do nothing to the camera itself. Do you have access to another HVX or DVX to try the controller on to try to isolate if the problem is with the camera or the Varizoom?

well, i took it off an XL1 camera, and it was working perfectly fine with that camera. So i think the problem lies somewhere with the HVX.

AHA!

The XL1 uses LANC, The HVX uses Analog control. You need a Panasonic Controller, not a LANC (Canon & Sony) controller.
