Here is the first test shots of a new way for me to move the camera. Shot at 1080P 30fps Cine D. It's a quick edit with a little color correction. I used the YouTube setting in compressor. The secret to the technique is in the Title...

Could you explain how this was achieved?

This was our first test. My assistant Cody worked at a zip-line facility. He used his zip knowledge to build a rig for us to attach the camera. We are basically stringing a rope between trees and using a zip-line rig. The rope is rough so we want to find a smoother cable system. Its important keep our system light so that we can hike to remote spots. One of the cool things about this system, is that there were no camera operators. Or to put it another way, the actors were the camera operators:)

Has anybody else made or used a similar zip-line rig?

nope never tried it but now I will try. My question is how to avoid the camera to swing and turn? Did you build some kind of Gimbal?

Thanks for the link. SpiderCam is also pretty amazing, but cost about 1000 times what our rig has... We have not done any more tests yet, but next time I will take some footage of the rig in operation...
