Zfinder x2.5 or x3?

Funny you mentioned that. Here's my response to the same question in the 5D thread here:
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/forumdisplay.php?f=166

"That's a great question that myself and a good buddy of mine discussed while at NAB. I felt the 2.5x was perfect as far as magnification and size was concerned. I felt like the 3x was a little over magnified and gave me a slight feeling of motion sickness when I walked around while using it. In addition, I had to actually move my eye in order to look from edge to edge. I know, it seems a little extreme for just a .5x difference, but it was almost 2 different products to me. It was for these reasons that I ordered the 2.5x version.

Now, my good friend that I was with felt a little differently. He gets motion sickness much easier then I do, yet he didn't feel any of it with the 3x. While comparing both for quite a while, he decided to get the 3x version. He didn't agree with me on almost any of my observations about the 2.5x version, so - to each his own.

The one thing we did agree on was that the Z-Finder was far and away better then the LCDVF we tried."

I tried both at NAB and, to be honest, could not discern a significant difference between the two. I went with the 3x and hopefully mine is in the batch projected to start shipping next week.

with 'near vision issues' and using the z finder would it be correct to think the 3x would be the best fit???
I am assuming that seeing how I wear reading glasses (+2.25) that the 3x mag would be best with a couple of extenders. Distance vision is still 20-15.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks KB
Zacutos website could put some kind of 'suggested visual fitting guide' of some sort on there couldn't they? (in case they read this, LOL)

Very cool. Good answers here. Keep it coming, I am not buying just yet and the more opinions we can get the better. Wish I had a store with both down the street.

Sounds like 2.5x is the winner though. It already sounds like a lot of magnification and avoiding having to move your eye in the cup to look around would be a major negative. So if purchasing without checking them out 2.5x sounds like the safe bet.

ydgmdlu thanks for that link. I don't know if those pictures can be trusted as an accurate representation of what you will see though. However the weirdness happening on the corners of the LCV-VF steered me clear away from that one.
