Recorded and edited a rough draft of my first music video in two hours on zero budget using a C100 with Ninja2 and Canon 24-105.

It was only while editing I noticed the chap had a bit of fluff stuck to his chin the whole time! We're going to re-shoot it again on Sunday. As it is, even without the fluff it's pretty flat.

Any suggstions for changes, types of shots etc to make this better greatly appreciated

Thanks

Careful of the sunglasses reflection mate I can see you in most close up shots.

Face the other way maybe so suns on him and less overexposure in the back. Personally I only like shot facing the sun when it's rising or setting.

Tag on his hat is visible

He needs to be in focus a bit more, he's slightly out in quite a few shots.

Show a few locations too, it's quite a lot of him just singing to the camera, chuck some of that nice scenery in there and you've got a nice vid

These are the things that I have to remind myself when doing this kind of stuff…. Shoot a few more takes of each setup that are a mix of super close-ups, wides, different angles. That will give you a lot more to edit with and mix it up so that your end video isn't repetitive. The opening scenes where he's pulling up in the car aren't that engaging, so I'd look for a more exciting alternative. Try some funky angles, or shoot detail shots up close, or grab some of those really scenic beaches to set location. Music videos are a great place for experimentation.
