Shot this music video entirely on the GH3 for a friends band, super no budget (location and make-up were only costs).

I did this pro bono as I'd never shot and edited a music vid before (mainly corporate), it's certainly not perfect and I learn't a lot from the experience.

edit: should mention the video contains an explicit lyric.

Any questions about the shoot, settings, lenses or support feel free to ask.

Heh, not bad! I like the whole concept - not super original, but very nice. Even the music is not bad (and I am super, super picky). I liked that old dude actor - good choice, good performance. My favorite moment: 0:30 - 0:37 - simply great... concept, execution and impact (would like to know more about how you shot that - I assume it was the 12-35 there?). Least favorite moment: 1:17 - 1:20... that swaying handheld cam, that framing - ugh, hated, hated, hated. Also what's with that crappy flare at the bottom from 2:54 all the way to the end - seriously distracting. Overall, excellent effort, and a good music video.

Had to say this is awesome. Loved every frame from start to finish. And loved the song. Wow--a GH3. Eight years ago we'd all be absolutely gobsmacked that this came from a consumer stills camera. Sheesh.

Hey that was damn good; what did you use for steadycam or rails?

Thanks for the critique OldCorpse, it's very helpful.

This was shot on the Panny 50mm f1.4, it took over 20 takes to get the timings right with the lift doors. The mirror at the back of the lift also added to the complexity (you can actually see the GH3 very briefly on sticks as the actor turns.

In the edit I ended up using two takes, instead of the planned one-shot all the way through this section. First one is the 50mm au natural and the second shot is using the GH3's amazing EX Tele mode, which essentially gives you two focal lengths for the price of one.

I am not a fan of the lens flare on the 12-35mm I could have probably done more to eliminate it more from this shot. Unfortunately the backlight is pointing straight in camera.

The reason for the flare bouncing about the place on this end shot is due to stabilization (in Premiere CC) this shot was all handheld, and although the IOS in the lens did a good job I really wanted to smooth this shot out, it seems that warp stabilizer in CC ignores lens flares and creates this ugly effect. My affair with Warp Stabilizer is really love hate.

It's quite amazing, isn't it? The only thing I still have trouble shaking is the feeling I get when I turn up to a client shoot and I pull out two tiny M43 cameras. It's not something that should bother me, but it does.

No steadycam, some shots use a slider (konovo K3 I think) the rest are on sticks or are handheld with the 12-35mm IOS working it's magic. Some shots have been stabilized in post also.

Just remembered I also used a MagicSLR Toy Lens to get some of the weird distortions. If you can deal with the imperfections this is a really fun lens to get some creepy looking shots.

What were the settings?
