Other: ZEISS LWZ.3 21-100mm/T.2.9-3.9 T Announced

To this endless discussion can a 50$ lens do what a 4000$ lens can - no Absolutely not.
will the average client notice? Probably not or maybe
do you want to work with average clients? poo poo no!
I feel the same about DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.

I wouldn't diss my glass - it easily out resolves xavc 4k and all the focus gears are slick as butter

no I would not use it with a Preston toting a/c but for solo shooting it's hard to top

an 8bit mirror less camera is an entirely different thing

Nothing wrong with AIS lenses at all and their prices are steadily rising as people wake up to how good they are.

Can I recommend the 35mm f1.4 for the collection? A stunning lens by any measure.

800 iso if you want to go higher you should switch to cinegamma 4 there you can go higher (and lower)
This is good advice (if a bit off topic of thread :-) ). With an external recorder - I'm using the PIX E5 - matching 800 ISO a6300 10 bit footage to internal Slog3cine 1000EI footage with my FS7 is a breeze.

But where is Cine 4 in the PP list.. I couldn't find it in the manual.. it mentions Cine 1 and 2.. but nothing about cine 4..? which PP number is it..

Thanks

I don'e believe it's one of the 8 presets... I think you have to dig into the the defaults (PP 5 or 6 from memory) and then change the gamma value from 1 or 2 to 4.

I can't believe Sony haven't nicked a UI designer from Apple or similar yet. Everything I own of theirs is horrendous in that department, including my tv

I have to say I'm coming to that conclusion a bit. Basically my A7sII is becoming my 'amazing B-camera as long as there's no sky in the frame' camera.

Oh, and I'll never diss Nikon AIs. That's the set I had before I went all Contax and they were fab for the money.

These will come in PL, EF, MFT, and E-Mount, but apparently won’t be user switchable. Weight-wise the 35mm is 1.95kg to 2.12kg depending on the mount (PL vs E-mount in this case), 50mm is 2.11kg to 2.28kg, and 85mm is 2.15kg to 2.32kg. Tokina is pricing these at $3999 for the 35mm and 50mm, and $4,499 for the 85mm. Delivery is expected in January 2017. To make things even more exciting, Tokina has said that they’ve got an 18mm and 25mm T1.5 coming later in 2017, also covering full-frame.

Tokina’s other new lens announcement is the improved full-frame 16-28mm II T3 zoom, which will come in PL, EF, MFT, and E mounts (the weights with these different mounts range from 1.75kg (3.9lbs.) for PL up to 1.89kg (4.2lbs.) for MFT and E-mount). While Tokina already made a cinema version of this lens, they’ve redesigned the colors of the witness marks:

These look really good, 300 degree focus, designed from the ground up, not rehoused stills glass. Good job Tokina!

Ultra Prime sharpness, nice bokeh, flare rolls off nicely, little distortion, useable zoom range, lightweight, and under 10k. I might put in my pre-order soon!

I was really surprised with the test footage from IBC. I think it has a really nice character. I really want to see that bike messenger footage in more detail. I thought the stuff shot on "The Circle" was good but a bit shaky on the aerial shots to fully appreciate the video.
