Other: ZEISS LWZ.3 21-100mm/T.2.9-3.9 T Announced

great range, stabilisation, AF.. if it has semi responsive manual focussing (like the 28-135) and is about £2k this is a total winner to be honest..

Been contemplating Canon's 18-80mm T4.4, but this lens rumor intrigues me. Speed is likely a wash, but the Sony may cover Vistavision.

That Angie 30-90mm f/1.9 FF zoom could theoretically be speed boosted to become a 19-57mm f/.95?

Ben nailed this one.

Joking aside I love the look of the Zeiss and it would be a perfect accompaniment to a couple of fast Otus primes for when you need the speed.

The Angies could be really something special. Look forward to seeing material from them as they could genuinely do away with primes for a whole host of jobs.

Nope it is 1.9 when in S35 mode, 2.8 in fullframe mode, it needs to be in ff mode to take a booster which would take it back to 1.9.. which is exactly what they are selling.. their own speed-booster

It's a mid zoom. Perfect for interviews from knee to head through to Ecu but this needs a sister on another cam 14-30 or suchlike

Incorporating a speedbooster is something that Sony could do with the 28-135 but it would mean redesigning the lens to focus on a more distant flange focal distance and then incorporating a reducing speedster type lens. Probably not an impossible feet. I think its something that Juan Martinez has raised with them but it doesn't seem like they took the bait. Boy they would sell a lot of those.

Angenieux announced two EZ zooms.

-2.6:1 S35 15-40mm F1.9 / Vistavision 22-60mm F2.8

-3:1 S35 30-90mm F1.9 / Vistavision 45-135mm F2.8

Great speed, & (hopefully) price, but meh range.

I think these are, frankly, two of the most exciting lenses announced in a long time. With matched iris/zoom/focus ring positions they'll be as quick to change as primes. They'll be as fast as most primes, they're lightweight too, and if they can match the look performance and feel of the current Optimo Styles - they'll make a hugely compelling option. We'll just have to wait and see, given that Angie are outsourcing the manufacturing.

Personally, I think the range is very reasonable for a pair of short zooms.

If Zeiss could offer a similar swap out of their rear elements for the CZ.2s, I'd be all over that like rash.

Does anyone know where the new EZ lenses will stand on pricing? I am hoping somewhere around this level, a bit less than the Optimo styles which are around 17k currently each.

S35 - $8000-10,000 ea. (compete with this new Zeiss LWZ)
FF - $10,000 + ea. (strictly for the FF focal reducer elements)

For the Zeiss LWZ, the value is better already because you get a bit more reach on either end for one lens, basically giving you a pretty solid cinema zoom lens at that sub 10k mark which is so appealing. After buying one EZ lens, it is going to be hard to save up again for another one

I would love a discount combo package on the EZ, like buy two and get $2000 off or something? One can dream!

I have always been a fan of Angenieux glass and would love to get my hands on something like this which would last a lifetime.

People just want a 500g 15-200f2.8 full frame servo zoom constant aperture stabilised AF cine lens. For £400.

The Zeiss and the Angies are a huge step forward in cinema glass with cinema mechanics at a fraction of the price you'd have a couple of years ago.

And even if they are a bit rich for you, their rental prices will be next to nothing.

Build quality will be top notch; all metal housing, dust proof, splash proof. What's not to like?

I like the bit in the press release which says, Unbeatable value :-)
