Zeiss CP2's vs Canon L Glass...

Heard that the EF cine primes are still listed at 7k each... was hoping that the rumor of a less expensive L lens like the CP2's was coming...

But that doesn't seem to be the case...

So still L's would be cheaper in the long run (thinking of a set of 5)... but wondering if the extra cost of going with the CP2's isn't a bad idea after all.

Already in a cine mode.. no selling the L's when the EF primes did come out... plus ony 3 for now anyway...

Wonder if anyone else has thought about doing the same...

I've used the CP2's a couple times and while it's nice that they are cine lenses, I wasn't too impressed with their image quality. I would maybe hold off and see what's coming down the pipe.

I like the quality of L glass from Canon, they flare in all the right places. Zeiss glass has a much sharper and higher contrast value. They have very different looks to say the least, so I really think that should be part of your consideration. CP.2 lenses are more verisitle because they can change mounts, so they'll last longer and hold value longer. My two cents.

I think Zeiss is coming out with yet another version of the CP.2 that is lower in price. I saw this on a video clip from NAB last year. Cant find it sorry.
