ZaZa Slider - Anyone willing to build and sell?

I think the ZaZa Slider is awesome, especially considering the price of the Glidetrack, which seems like a very good and well built product, just way out of my price range ($400 Australian Dollars is what the 1-metre Glidetrack sells for).

Anyways, I suck at DIY stuff lol :undecided

I was just wondering, has anyone considered building ZaZa Sliders and selling them via an online store/eBay? (kind of like the operation "gini.1980" has going on via eBay with his shoulder stabiliser rigs)

Not only do I think that these would be immensely popular, but also a great help to those of us that suck at DIY and don't own a single power tool... :)

I mean, all I want for Christmas this year...is a really smooth dolly shot :)

Hey Barry, I had been eyeing the IndiSlider Mini for a while now, and I think that for $99, you can't go wrong! However, it's only 24" in length, which I think is good, but I'd really like something longer :)

I think I'm going to attempt this myself (the actual build and not the selling part), however if it is done...I think some sort of royalties should be paid to ZaZa if profit is being made. It's only fair considering the amount of time, research and effort he put in so that it would be available for us.

Just a point to consider if anyone is actually interested in taking up this challenge,

I concur. I keep going down to that DIY thread and contemplating it, but I have a lot of other projects on my plate.

The threshold question is: How much extra are people will to pay to have someone else build a DIY project for them? There's supplies, labor time and shipping to consider. What if you're not satisfied? There's potentially a bunch of hassles and I think that's why you don't see a lot of DIY stuff make it into the retail market.

It's really, like, really really, REALLY easy.

Quite literally you order the parts (zaza gives you the part numbers in the first post ) drill a hole in the carriage to attach your head to and slide the carrage onto the rails.

THAT'S IT.

I concur with the last comment. To be honest the Glidetrack is kinda a rip-off. I think Alistair is a nice guy, but basically you are paying for the black plastic feet. You can just put a couple of wood blocks on the ZaZa instead and you have the same thing. On top of that with IGUS/ZaZA you can choose absolutely any length you want.

Thanks guys! What a great group of people we have here. I'm actually working on a few new goodies that I'm considering marketing, so hope you'll all take a look when they're ready. (soon)

I posted all the info. for the ZazaSlider because it is REALLY easy to build and encourage everyone to try it. Excellent tool for the indie filmmaker.

If someone is in a bind and can't see fit to build it, I'd be glad to help, time permitting. I have built a few for people, but took no profit, instead I asked for a donation for Isara.
Please PM me for more info.

I'd love to build the Zaza/Igus slider. Problem with being in Australia (and other non USA/EU) countries is the local distributors charge a ridiculous amount of money for the parts. ITs $200USD per metre for the rail and $180USD for the carriage!! ripped off bad.

If anyone does decide to build I'm sure there will be a nice internnational market for them.

I bought my rails and carriage... Im handy but don't own tools. In my town there is a great hardware store called McGuckins. They will drill or cut for $1each hole/cut. So my DIY solution is often to have them do stuff that I don't have the tools for.

One time i built a shoulder rig for $15, I planned the whole thing in the store with mini-PVC pipe. They didn't even charge me for the cuts since it was only $4. I just paid parts.
