I'm looking to update my ENG kit with a new wireless system. What would people recommend - Zaxcom or Lectrosonics? Budget is around the $3500 mark.

Thanks in advance!

personally i'm a fan of the lectrosonics sra receiver and two smv transmitters. but you could get 2 used um200c transmitters and stay within your budget.

I haven't been on the up and up with Zaxcom pricing, but I know they are very expensive, and I don't know if your budget will cover one complete channel.

I recorded four seasons of a popular television show with Lectro gear and I know others, dozens of others, actually, who use Lectro and Zaxcom gear both for TV and major studio film production. Unless I'm way off, both are the industry standard. In what way are they not professional?

Personally, I wouldn't get either brand as an "upgrade" to a professional sound kit.

The Zaxcoms' have many options, integrated IFB, recording transmitters w/TC, remote level control, ect... though with a price. Depends what your budget and needs are. Both Zax and Lectro are top shelf systems with stellar customer service. In either case you may pick up the phone and talk directly to the 'Head Honcho' if need be.
