Unsure if this has been mentioned here at all guys and gals but check this out

They got it for the 'Great camera shootout 2010'. The only web based entry I believe in the category and pitted against major players in the broadcast industry and they won.

The quality of the broadcasts was very good by the way. The downloaaded file had amazing quality so from a techincal viewpoint this series was very informative for all of us.

I am so impressed with Zacutos innovation in using the web and the series was very intriguing as well. These guys are on the cutting edge for sure and I look forward to their 2011 series - I am sure that will be the most extraordinary one.

Well done guys and also thanks for going to the trouble - the award is well deserved.

Thank you Henry. We are in production on The Great Camera Shootout 2011 which will pit large sensor cameras like 35mm film, Alexa, RED, AF100, F3, DSLR. Shoots will be in LA, SkyWalker Ranch & Chicago. Screenings will be in NY, LA & London. Releases NAB 2011

Wow I didn't know, thanks for the heads up Henry and congratulations zacuto!
The 2010 camera shootout you did was enjoyable, informative and well put together.

Wow - that wil be one hang of a shootout. So all the big guns will be out. This is too good to miss. Look forward to it

Damn... can't wait.

Congratulations Steve and Jens (and the whole team). A great contribution to everyone, and well deserved.

Epic...

LOVED the 2010 shootout and can't wait to see this! Enjoying Critics alot too. Thanks for doin what you do Steve!

Their results were a little 'optimistic' in my opinion and in my experience. I usually don't mind except this shoot-out influenced countless DSLR shooters who then, not fully understanding the findings, based their opinions upon these findings and then irrationally started the misinformation campaign of 'DSLRs are as good as 35mm film', despite Zacuto never making that overall claim.

However, the shootout video series was very well made and it was a great effort. Despite my disagreement with the findings, I say congrats to them and I hope we can see eye-to-eye on the next camera test. In fact I'd love to lend a hand should they ever venture to do the tests in LA.

I do see how they can appear to put themselves in a precarious position by even doing the tests. Putting it simply, a company that heavily sells DSLR accessories concludes a test which gives the impression that DSLR's perform near the level of 35mm film can look suspicious to anyone who disagrees with their findings.

Either way, it's cool to win an Emmy and I am happy for them.

When put like that, yeah, overall that shootout does give that overall impression. I don't know if I can say they are "wrong" because of my lack of experience. But there are a lot of respectable people who have used DSLR in place of film and been happy with the results. The problem with DSLR footage is that if viewed technically it is bad... VERY bad. When viewed asthetically or artistically it can be great. Kind of a conundrum.

And yes, we all should congratulate Zacuto for the Emmy lest we pull a Kanye ;)

I own a Zacuto rig. It's very nice. I am a fan of their stuff.

That said, I hope that next year they:
- post some raw files before and after color correction
- post a high-quality 1080p version of their video.
- have a greater variety of motion, color, lighting, etc

I'd pay good money for a nice Blu-Ray with their video, plus raw files.

Otherwise, I will have to just do my own tests - and film is expensive. Anyone else want to split the costs?

Their video was a nice introduction, but not really enough to save me a camera test :)

OK, enough is enough. This is not the place for BLAH is better than BLAH. Let's just say well done Zacuto for winning an Emmy and move on...this discussion has been done to death and I don't know about you but I am very bored of it!

No more thanks Otis. Bringing up stuff you are bringing up is ridiculous and FYI House have used the 5DMKII on EVERY SINGLE EPISODE this season.

END OF DISCUSSION.

Just so everyone knows, this isn't just Philip talking, but the whole mod team. I deleted the posts. Further sniping like this is going to result in bans, no matter who does it.

Exactly David. It's time we all moved on from these bitter discussions. This was a thread about a really useful test (which yes i was involved in) winning an Emmy. It should have just been posiive posts but it fell into the usual pattern. This is something we need to get past to make DVXuser a better resource.
