C300: Zacuto Recoil Rig

Has anyone used the Zacuto Recoil rig on a C300? There are some bundles that include this with the new C300 pricing, so it is of some interest. Is this a realistic option for a shoulder mount? Do any of these frankenrigs actually work out or is it a case of; is that as good as it's going to get? Would you rather just handhold if the length of the work was brief?

I like the idea of a shoulder mount cam in general, but I have doubts about any piece of kit like this, especially given the rather exotic price point. Of course Zacuto has a pretty good reputation but are there other products worth looking at?

I would get the VCT base plate now instead of the shoulder pad and what looks like a C300/C500 base plate but the other stuff is solid.

I have the studio baseplate for my mk1 and it's pretty solid. Heavier than it should be, but gets the job done. I just wear an actual shoulder pad rather than adding one to the camera, though I have my eye set on their new vct base plate kit that features a new sliding dovetail and built in shoulder pad.

I have the Zacuto Gorilla Baseplate for the C300 wharn I need front rails. Works well and is light.

I also have the VCT, Grip Relocator and Tornado drive. Low profile is key with the VCT. Rails go on back and front easily. Good stuff.
