I have only seen two clips from this camera and both have looked really good. I would buy one if it didn't have the split screen issue in low light. It must have been one of the worst HD camera's to be released in the last year, especially now the HVX-200 is out. Do you think it will be long before this model is discontinued, i cant see how it can compete with the offerings from Panasonic, Sony and Canon.

You can't see how? I think it's quite obvious, it's the only one offering a professional shoulder body (the Canon is too unbalanced to be comparable in this matter).
It has an equal or superior image than the Sony with much more color adjustments. Besides that, it records progressive and the sony interlaced.
The Canon costs almost twice the price, I don't know if it's image is better or worst but I believe it will be a matter of personal taste.

Why do you say it's the worst HD camera released this year? Do you have one or extensively tried it? Late units have a very hard to notice split screen under extreme low light conditions, most european units don't have SSE at all.

It has it's limitations like any other cheap camera. I also see a lot of them on the HVX200, it has excellent specs inside a prosumer body and it records HD on a very expensive media.

The HD100 is very capable of competing with all others, each one has a specific market.
