C100: Zacuto EVF + C100 - magnification, how?

folks,

I hooked up my Zacuto EVF to my C100 and hopes were high that the magnification will loop through onto my EVF display - but it doesnt. Anybody an idea how I could get that to work?

cheers,

Koji

Or get the Zacuto loupe that's made for the C100 LCD. That adds less weight to the camera and works pretty well, despite the so-so rubber band solution. Magnify doesn't work on my DP4 either.

While we're on the subject I just picked up a used Zacuto EVF for good money and wondered can I get the display info from the C100 on its screen, for example when it's recording I'd like to see a red dot or some other notification on the Zacuto screen.

You can turn on OSD info on and off for the HDMI out. What you cannot get from the HDMI is waveforms and peaking.

Use the EVF's magnification.

of course I could do that, but if I have the C100 on the shoulder, to pronounce it in a a zacutoesque way: in a recoil position, I just don't want to get my left hand off the focus or the handle to the EVF. It's disturbing especially cause I know the right hand has the finger on the mangification trigger and nothing is displayed when hit. If you do run and gun all day long, what happens often in my case, then you have no nerv on hittin that EVF button 400x a day. Not so happy bout that and I already mailed and asked Zacuto if they know a solution.

I always found the Zacuto loupe to be too heavy for flipping or tilting displays (like my Sony a77 had)! I guess if we wait a little further the Kinothenik version will be released by november. Its not even half the weight.

I haven't had the DP4 that long and I originally purchased it for my XF100, which I recently sold. I think it's okay. It does add a lot of weight that I'd prefer not to have to deal with. I feel like I trust the camera LCD with the Zacuto more.

How does the DP4 compare to the screen on the C100 and the C100 screen + Zacuto EVF? Is it easier to get focus? A worthy upgrade?

i use the DP4 and love it. it smokes the C100 LCD and forget the eyepiece viewer on the C100 which is pretty worthless IMO. i also have the Zacuto EVF which is also nice and lighter than the DP4 but i find the DP4 a little better for focusing over the Zacuto EVF.
