i own two, don't use AA batteries, the light will flicker. Instead use Sony Lithiums then they are great.

just ordered them after they were tested as the best out of 5 led lights (sorry dont have the link right now)
They are supposed to have warm and beautiful light for led .. and they only cost 50 euros!

Can you link the Sony batteries you are using? I would rather invest in a few lithium batteries instead of constantly buying AA.

haven't tried rechargeables, AA's work for the first bit but once the voltages drop, serious flickering. I use Sony Info Lithium batteries, google that or search on ebay, i think its NP something something... they fit perfectly on the back and hold their voltages better. I haven't tested thoroughly though.

so I have the Light and Its Great.. Works well with my NP-F960 Sony and Also Works Well woth the AA batteries.. No Fliker AT all. Have only tested at 1080 24p/// Ill Do all the Other frame Rates later, with the AA

leave the light on for several hours on AA's then you'll see what i'm talking about. Though to be fair I was using some cheap AA's at the time, more extensive testing is necessary before its official. 1080 24p didn't matter if i was at 30/40/50/60 etc shutter, got worse as I went higher.

This I assumed regarding low charge on the batt, and with any light source that is plugged it that rolling shutter effect happens if your shutter speed does not match the light htz frequency.

so in Europe, its 50 htz and in the US its 60htz.. Flourecent Bulbs are the worst.
