Z-Finder and LCD brightness

I've been using a Zacuto Z-Finder with my 7D and it obviously helps with focus.
As for exposure, I haven't noticed any significant disparity between my LCD (viewed through the Z-Finder) and final output on a calibrated computer monitor. But I'm curious whether Z-Finder users use AUTO in the LCD BRIGHTNESS menu ... or manual?

Thanks,
Brad

I'm using a knock off (Carry Speed) viewfinder, but I imagine the principles are the same with both. I ended up going with a manual brightness setting that ended up being about one click lower than I used without the viewfinder. Basically I put the viewfinder up to my one eye, kept the other eye open, dialed in a correct exposure via the histogram, and then adjusted the LCD screen to look "right" under these conditions. The theory is that a correct exposure will then look "right" when I'm holding it up to my eye. YMMV.

Good luck!
