Your thoughts on Canon lens vs other 3rd party lens?

So after having the Canon T2i for a few months and messing with just a few different lenses, I've noticed that Canon lenses are more pleasing to the eye. I can't think of the right word to describe the look about it but Canon lenses seem "punchier". Sometimes even sharper and contrastier(not a word, I know) than a few other 3rd party lenses that I've seen.

Some lenses that i've used so far:
Sigma 30mm 1.4
Canon 50mm 1.4
Canon Kit Lens
Tokina 11-16mm 2.8
Nikkor 50mm 1.4
Nikkor 24mm 2.8

I know it's kinda lame to base my thoughts by after having such little experience with any other lenses. But I have seen many videos of t2i/7D users using 3rd party lenses and again they just don't seem as nice as Canons.

So I'm curious, what are yall's thoughts about Canon lenses? Does anyone already have a collection of 3rd party lenses and regret investing in Canon, vice versa?

I didn't like the Sigma 50 1.4 even though it is a monster lens, but both copies I tried front focused and I gave up returning them. On the other hand, the Tokina 11-16 is unreal and I'd have to say my favorite lens. I would say that each lens should be examined on it's own merit. Canon makes some great lenses, but some are less stellar. Evaluate each lense based on how you will be using it. I borrowed a 70-200 2.8 IS and it was great shooting in a big backyard at a party for candid shots, but too ling to use indoors even in a large room. I think it is generally too long on APS-C unless you need the reach for sports shooting, wildlife etc. try to rent/borrow a lens before you buy!

I returned my sigmas 30mm as well.. Picture was just too soft, even my kit lens seemed sharper. From what I've read, Sigmas can be great lenses but they suffer from quality control. So something like 4 out of 10 sigmas will be sharp or won't have any focusing issues.

And renting lenses is a great idea.. Something I should've done from the beginning. Thanks for your input.

To me the Canon lenses seem to have a smooth look and are on the contrasty side. I like 'em.

That's what I thought until I started to compare some canon lenses to others.
Some are amazing and others shouldn't even have the Canon name on them. I won't buy a Canon lens anymore just because it's called Canon. Those days are gone.
The L class lenses are all great. Most all Canon primes L or non L are great. The low end zooms may not be so great in terms of sharpness.
Every lens is different so better to try them on and see how they fit before you shoot something important.
