Your thoughts on a NLE for OSX 10.4.11

Hi Everybody,

I've been doing a lot of research and I'm very close to purchasing an HPX170 rig and an editing software package foolishly assuming FCP would be my NLE of choice, but Apple.com states I'd have to upgrade to Leopard from Tiger.

I've read Adobe Premier only supports DVCPRO HD and not DVCPRO25/50. Is this true?

I'd consider Vegas, Avid or GV software etc. I just want to avoid upgrading to Leopard right now if I can.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

seriously. whats wrong with leopard? sounds to me that you may be making things hard on yourself for little reason...

I'm happy with Tiger right now. Plus I don't want to run the risk of Leopard not being compatible with my older software- I've heard some bad stories.

fwiw - i never had any issues with software compatibility when i moved from tiger to leopard.

but yeah, id say ebay would be the place to go to get FCP6.

ive also often seen older software on the shelf at retail stores. its funny. our local microcenter to this day has a boxed copy of a pre-CS level adobe video collection. and its not even significantly discounted... ha!

A noobie sucker is gonna pick it up one of thse days.

Why don't you use a dual boot system then?
good idea.

not to keep harping on it. but it seems to me that youre jumping through hoops to put together a kludgey situation in hope of solving a problem that may not exist in the first place
