OK folks, what is it you want to see from EVA1? Im talking about if you could say show me a shot from the camera doing this. What would it be? Go.

Don't ask for raw, its not ready yet etc.

*INTERNAL CODEC ONLY* - General everyday, natural light footage, in various conditions both optimal for DR/ISO and stretching those abilities, shot handheld. Specifically:

1. General, midrange / mid ISO Low light portrait shots (think indoor, flourescent / incandescent lighting) - all natural light. The stuff a ton of live event coverage is made of.

2. DR examples - All natural light, harsh outdoor lighting - again, skin tones and portrait in these tough, dynamic range maximizing situations.

3. 120p and 240p slow motion quality on some tough subjects - harsh dynamic range, lots of micro detail like water droplets, bark dust

4. Handheld footage with EIS in various scenarios and focal lengths (1x wide, 1x mid, 1x long). Trying to hold it perfectly steady handheld (not shoulder mount), try doing a quasi dolly push shot, hand held only with EIS

5. Sound test for quality of onboard pre-amps (using any mic, interested in noise floor).

6. Native High ISO performance. Don't just shoot a candle or living room, make sure there is a face in it, plus interesting backdrop. Add some movement in the shot as well. Base ISO: 800, 1600, 2500... then Base ISO 2500 @ 2500, 3200, 4000, 6400

BONUS: A good video walk through of the OSD menu system would be awesome! How VFR modes are changed, frame/codec options, audio settings, zebras/waveform, system settings, focus peaking, green focus squares, etc. etc.

Labeling of all shots so we could see the settings used would be ideal!

Thanks Noel!

I'm more interested in shots of the camera, maybe wrapped in Christmas lights. Otherwise some type of maker video, I'm thinking a glass blower in Japan. If possible include a behind the scenes video describing both how cold and tired the crew was.

Office, spotty halogens, puke flouros and a superbright windows (with green or brown tint).. get out of a jail with the camera and a single 1.1 panel.

High contrast run and gun situation outside..... same thing inside with only available light... i.e. NO lighting.... And since they are marketing this a dual iso thingy, we need to see a night shot as well.

I'm tired of seeing nicely composed shots on sticks that someone had the time to do. Gief real world examples instead... treat the thing as if you were doing a job where the client is being a client and changes their mind in the last minute.

Yes! Especially on a camera marketed for this (small, lightweight, no PL mount, lower price point, etc.)

noel-

thanks for the ask and the effort.

BIG thumbs up.

:dankk2:

+1

Very generous offer.

Ok. Here we go:

Lots of skins, in different complexions if possible and most definitely different lighting, especially hot skins with blowing highlights.

Mixed lighting conditions, especial shots with faces.

Harsh sunlight shots, with people in them in both wider shots and close ups.

A moving train, propellers or at least a strobe light or flash.

Most importantly, all in uncontrolled environments. Most cameras will look good under studio or controlled lighting.

Skin tones. All races. Landscapes. Harsh sunny noonish. Car mount (just kidding. Actually, no, do a car mount.).

This!!!! :D

I'd also love to see some tests that demonstrate how the DR is affected when switching off of Base ISO, IE 1600 when shooting base 800; 3200 or 4000 when shooting base 2500. How many stops of DR do we lose when drifting off of base ISO?

I guess you're all looking to see the crappiest footage possible with this camera. And then I laugh when I read the complaints about poorly shot material posted by people using other cameras.

I get what you guys are asking for and why, but surely you see the irony here. Manufacturers can't win, so we try to deliver pretty pictures. BTW, I do think that many of the things you're looking for will be found in our sample films, but we were going for visually challenging situations not outright ugly ones.

The best thing is to do detailed commentary on footage and see it being worked in resolve.

Good dps both hide lights and generally make magic.. Basically with any camera.

We want to see situations that connect to our paid work which is often under lit and in non ideal situations.

We don't want to see crappy footage - we want to see the camera shine when the pressure is on.

Clearly (to me) matching a sub $10g camera with (and I'm not seeing you have done this) with a huge crew and lights package is not really representative of how it will actually be used..

Haha well I wouldn't mind seeing any footage at all. Plus Im sure Panasonic is already having a bunch of shooters create sample content anyway so I'd rather add on requests that help me get a more quantified understanding of the limitations of the camera.
