Yet another shoulder rig - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Hey Steve,

Is it possible to stack 1 pound weights that can separate based on what a person my need.

I was thinking we might be able to use the A frame from the handle. The tool is already built and it will allow the weight to be either above the rails or under the rails. I ordered some 3.000 x .500 stainless rounds, to play around with. I was thinking along the lines of overmolding them with a soft black plastic so they won't be reflective and they won't bang up anyones gear (or anyones head for that matter). This will allow for multiple stacking, put some index pins to make it easier to stack them.

That looks pretty close to the design of many other counterweight systems. Here is the CineCity one:

Since we are using our existing handle frame as a way of keeping the cost low yes it does look the same. Weights are about the same size too, at 1 pound each but we are over molding them in black rubber as both a safety issue and to cut down on any glare. Would not want to crack my head on one that was not overmolded. Ouch

That looks like a winner. The black coating is really a good idea. I'm very interested in this add on. It will definitely take my rig to the next level Steve.

Thanks

Counter weights and Z brackets are up on the web site for advanced orders. The tooling is about half done on the counter weight. The Z bracket was started this week. Both should be shipping in about 2-3 weeks. Thanks for those that provided feedback on the CAD renders and the proto types we sent out.
