some of you may of already read, but its been a couple very busy days at Red. I have seen footage and the footage is incredible....

Not the "Wow-thats good-HD-footage" kinda incredible..

but more the "Wholly S#$@#! kinda incredible."

I can agree with mike 100%.. this is the best, cleanest, sharpest footage I have ever seen from a digital video camera. Read Mikes summary, he does a very good job at describing what he saw.

Alot of you guys that ponied up the $1000 way back when your day just got alot better.. trust me.

It does make me happy that my deposit is already in, and my little R toy is on the desk. If this thing is even half as impressive as you gents think, then it was a bonny decision...:beer:btw Mike sure knows how to tease us with design changes, UI, and support evolutions. Congrats on seeing the Revolution first hand Jarred.

We have incredible images... but we still have a long way to go in a short time period. We are working 24/7 to deliver all that is expected. We take EVERY deposit seriously. We don't want to let anyone down.

Sweet! This keeps getting better. Every time some news like this comes out I get re-inspired to be ready (financially and skill-wise) for RED by the time it comes out.
 
This sounds more and more promising. So Jarred, it looked a LOT better than both the F900 and the Viper I presume?

Well anyone thinking about the newly announced canons and thinking $4,000 as against $17,500 with the same likely footage as the XLH1.

THINK AGAIN ................................Red is in a diiferent league:)

All those big cinema guys secretly thinking (perhaps) it cant be done at that price and by a new company..............ER....Maybe i just better take another look at this Red thing.

All those smaller wee guys who thought (perhaps) i will just stick to my 3 CCDs, in any case it would cost too much when you add up several hugely expensive lenses etc...........THINK AGAIN.

All those who thought (perhaps) i dont need to take a chance with Red when i can get a 2/3rds camera from a big (safe)name company for the same price.

Is anyone surprised that Jarrad and Mike Curtis got the opportunity to see the footage? How else do you think Red will reach 500 pre orders for their first big production run if all those doubters out there can't be persuaded to go to IBC and see the footage themselves. Clever marketing....again

Red has a great team full of talented people. That does not guarantee success, BUT it does make it far more likely that THEY WILL SUCCEED.

Like most of you guys in the Red (ALERT) section i fully expect the controls to be EXACTLY where you guys want them. The added new tech bits to be ultra cool and the LCD to be what we should have had with most other HD cameras.

In fact the only negative aspect i fear we will miss out on (crystal ball gazing) is the technology out there somewhere now or in the next few years that will bring auto focus to a standard acceptable to the vast majority of pros. Red will (likely) in any event produce something special for focusing with the Red one anyway.

Jim Jannards words...........Those who took out a deposit will not be disappointed.

That means wee guys like me that has sacrificed everything (just about) to get a Red camera will be happy as well as everyone else. That makes me smile. Learning all this videography stuff is worse than college was many years ago:( But a hell of a lot more enjoyable though:)

I personally, don’t doubt it that it will be a successful product, because they had at least two great selling points from the beginning: Price and resolution; now add to this modularity, almost universal lens support, a great team (not just bored employees on a big company), the financial support of Jim... and a successful product is on the way!

Its 2 completely different games.. I made fun of someone a couple months ago because they said they wanted to buy RED to take still images. I now take that back.

If I owned a F900 or a Viper i would be making a very pretty ebay ad right now.
