[SIZE=-0]Another Question or something to think about maybe, but if it was a pretty hot day (saya shot on 100 + degree weather) wouldnt the wax GG start to melt or possibly be affected in some way?
On the actual GG version how exactly does is the GG held in place? Meaning the wax makes a fine layer for the image to be projected on, and im assuming you try to do the same with the GG. How do you make it an even or perfect consistency?

Melt point for most microwax is 150+ degrees, so a hot day is fine but never leave it in the trunk of your all black Impala, or in any other way do something you'd normally avoid with your camera anyway.

The way the DIY community makes a thin, consistent layer is discussed here.

OMG, someone actually watched some of my short films :love4:

Release was a fun 3 hour project: a film under 10 min with no dialogue, and Organic Comedy was my first attempt at stop motion. Yea the compression quality is poor (Real Player- nuff said)...

...but I have Canopus ProCoder now so I hope to convert these all to H.264 soon.

....good point- I'm sure that it being stuck in airtight black PVC wouldnt help any if in the direct sunlight. But if your in that kind of temperature, your gonna have more serious problems than melting wax

yea ed the claymation was great in "organic"....i had a goofy grin the whole time. that looked like a ***** to make. don't think i'd have the nerves.....

i read on another thread that on the go-35 site there was mention of some sort of shoot off between current 35 adapters. is this true jim? i'm intrigued. as most of us on here who don't already have a letus or brevis etc, or made one from scratch (ed), i will lie, cheat, covet my neighbor's wife (actually husband), steal, and murder, for a good 35 adapter.....

oh and can someone explain to this blog virgin--how do i upload one of my own pics as my avatar on here? wtf???

Moochy, did you ever get the stuff from Thorlabs? I'm thinking of getting their gg and a plano to make my focusing screen, but I wanted to know if you had tried it first.

Still waiting on this one, they told me it was stuck at the customs, so still waiting...

Just received the thorlabs one, and it's a no go. I mean not as good as D screen.
I mean for me the D screen, and a lens with an minimum aperture of at least 1.9 is just working great....

my adapter the "LG 35"

my adapter the "LG 35"

I call it the LG-35 for "little Giant"

I approached the GG issue completely different from everyone else it seems. I have access to some specialize "glass masters". I fabricated a 52mm GG Lens from scratch. ONE OF A KIND. Additionally, (and with all due respect to everyone else on this thread), my adapter is made from 100% metal camera parts. No plastic, no Home Depot, no Lowes, etc. Straight 52mm barrels, Nikon lens mount. Other end is 52mm to 72mm step-up ring into a 72mm to 72mm macro coupler. Basically, I go from the DVX lens to the GG to the 35mm lens. No sandwich, no wax, no glue, etc. Simple, clean and mean.

I'll have my test footage up soon. DV to 35 Lens is so amazing. Thanks to all.

. Anyhoo, here are some pix of my LG-35. We are currently looking into producing a quantity of these "52mm GG lenses" for those interested.

I do not know the "grit size". I bought the sheets from Adolf Gasser photography in SF. I used camera-grade gg. We ruined a bunch until we got it right. I will be posting some test footage tomorrow or the day after. It's funny becuase I've already got a bunch of PMs on the 52mm GG Lens. After this group takes a look at my Test Footage and rips it apart (constructively, of course), I'll move forward with the 52mm GG Lenses. I would need to work out a reasonable price because these things are a monster to get right.

The nice thing though is, once you get your hands on the 52mm GG Lens, you can stack a bunch of 52mm filters with the glass TAKEN OUT to bring your GG into focus with your 35mm lens. That's all I did. It's basically a "GG Filter-type lens". Beyond that, its a Step up ring and a Coupler ring and you have an adapter with no plastic, glue or MACRO Lens!! to focus on a rectangular focus screen that someone ripped out of a dead camera. I've tested with No. 1 and No.2 Macro lens, but I prefer the open aspect of the round, ground glass by itself. I'll use a couple of macros in my test footage for you all as well though.

Just my 2 cents. I'll keep you posted. Still testing and testing and testing.

Your go-35 looks Wonderful! Great Job.

How do you get by without the macros? Do you just use extension tubes between the DVX and the GG? Your device doesn't seem that long. Also, footage yet? Pics? And prices on the GG?

I'm waiting on a 72mm coupler to tie it all together. I get it tomorrow. Up until now, all my test footage was shot with an ugly mass on the front of the DVX holding the LG-35 temporarily in place. I'd like to tie it all together as I designed and shoot some Practical Application shots instead of these static "lab rat" shots. To answer your question on the macro: No, my DVX100a has no problem focusing in on the gg lens. I'm not magnifying the image at this point. We'll see if that still holds true after It's all sealed up. NO extension tube. It is as long a the previous photos from tip to tip connected to the camera

I think because the lens I developed is not small and rectangular, you don't need to focus onto some smaller image. This design if very passive. I think I'm not distorting the image as it comes through the 35mm lens. Figuring it out as I go, but excited just the same.

Well looks like you're on your way LittleGiant! Avoiding all our glue, cheap macros, PVC, and lab rat shots- we are looking forward to some VERY impressive footage!

And please don’t forget to show your parts and how you made it, thanks!

I meant "My Lab Rat shots". The stuff I've done so far. Not anyone else's. I have been extremely impressed with everyone's work on this issue. I will definately show all my work, parts, etc. I apologize if my words were not chosen well. No disrespect was meant to the kind and knowledgable folks on this site.

Just one question. There is no extension tube between the DVX lens and the GG. So, what is your distance there, between the DVX lens and the GG? I'm just curious because if the macros can be bypassed (with favorable) results, I think that would help with light loss. I'm interested to hear your results. I wish I had my GG here already. :(

perhaps I shouldnt have got so snippy LG, I'm not in the best mood now- I have been busting my a** for the last year and my company cheaped out on my raise so I'm feeling a bit undervalued. "you're an essential asset to the firm Edweirdo"...until its time to get payed.

I welcome your ideas and look forward to your progress...

Hey everyone, I have practically finished my adapter. The only thing that is bothering me now is that I have an issue with the edges of my image being blurry? I think that this is caused by my macro lens?? I am using a +1, +2 and +4 67mm closeup lenses because we don't have a +10 in NZ. Has anyone experienced this?

PS. Thanks heaps Edweirdo for making this possible :)
