Yes, I Sold My F23...

I held a T Mount Lens inside the camera's mount cavity just to test the sensor and make sure it was clean and free of dust and crap (it was). First picture is PanaLog uncorrected, Second is graded. Please bear with me as I just screenshot the editor window in final cut pro 7.

Graded using the Lut Buddy plugin and the LOG Generic 500T LUT from Impulz.
 
It looks good man. Did you find that on Ebay? Besides the obvious mount difference, how does this compare to the F35? Is it true that it does not do 12bit? Congratulations!!! Dont destroy your front plate. Try to do a mod that you could reverse it back when you came across some Pana glass.....from wherever it is you found a panavision camera...

Yes the camera is only 10bit, no 12bit in the genesis. I did infact buy the camera off ebay.
 
I don't want to sound negative, but the PV mount flange focal depth is 57.15mm. The ARRI PL mount is 44mm. Modifying the camera to accept PL mount glass may prove difficult.
 
Good, but what’s you plan for optics?

You could look into old Soviet lenses. The OCT-19 mount is 61mm. I believe there are ready-made adapters you could just clamp right on. Some of those lenses are quite nice and stupid cheap.

Dont know the old cine mounts.. but I would note that many 645, 66 etc MF still cameras have a deeper flange distance. wider than 35mm is pretty rare though in a still MF lense.
 
Anyone... Bueller? If anyone knows how this specific "universal mount" works would be greatly appreciated. I know I can use this mount to my benifit its just a matter of where to look lens wise. Couldnt I adapt a PL lens to a PV mount using the shimming process?
 
This is from back in the day when there were just a couple of cinema lens manufacturers but three different standard 35mm cine mounts - PV, PL (or even older ARRI Bayo) and BNCR. A few companies making zooms - notably Angenieux - put a universal back on their lenses so that different mounts could be attached. This design only works for a relatively few lenses, usually big zooms or converted telephotos. Decidedly not for primes.

I'm afraid it won't be as easy as you might hope. My suggestion is to give Matt Duclos a call on Monday and see what he might suggest. Perhaps he knows an inexpensive option.

I sent his company an email today, im sure i will hear back from them tomorrow. So any 35mm Angenieux lens with a "threaded" back can use that Panavision mount?

Whats interesting is the flange distance from T Mount to PV is damn close. The little 35mm lens i've been holding into the mount focuses just fine. If it just had the PV wings on it I could get something to work.

I did also see Panavision adapted Nikon Primes to PV under their "specialty lens" category so its possible.
 
You should be able to adapt all Angenieux Zoom Lenses to PV mount using that Duclos universal adapter for older zooms or this for newer zooms: https://www.angenieux.com/accessory/efpv-mount/ . (Duclos also has some for newer zooms). The universal mount is also found on older Cooke zooms.

Duclos also has this mounting system for Canon Cinema Zooms on PV: https://www.ducloslenses.com/pages/multimount .

You can't easily adapt other lenses because the flange distance they need to be at is inside the mount. There are no adapters out there for other mounts on PV. You may be able to have someone make you something, though. Rafcamera makes custom machined adapters, and I had him successfully make one for an anamorphic lens for me. (The machining quality wasn't perfect, but definitely good enough).

On the other hand, Rafcamera doesn't have anything Panavision. Ciecio7, who makes great quality lens adapters, does have adapters for putting PV lenses on other mounts: https://c7adapters.com/en/search/panavision . You might want to check with him to see if he can make you something that would work with one of the lens mounts out there.

I had universal mount lens at one point - the Angenieux 7-81mm for Super 16. I actually put a universal mount to universal mount 2x teleconverter on so it could be used on Super 35.
