For someone who likes things dark and creepy, I'm surprised that would be an issue. You loose one stop? In any case, I don't know if you use lights, but that could help. I myself have to learn about lighting, especialy with the hvx. These things are unfortunate light hogs. It's stupid of me to tell you your' stuff may look good with an adapter and cheap lenses. But I do see it as one tool to pull the look of the camera away from the what we got in the box. I think the stock lens rocks, so there's no reason not to use it forever. But If your' friend offered you to try an adapter with lenses would you go for it?
