Yellow Eyes

Total time was around 3 hours. Only because I had to go back a couple times to control the spill from the mask. Shake is an awesome program and well worth the money. Its very different from some of the other programs I've used but once you get use to it you can do some cool stuff with it.

reminds me of Perrin Aybara from the neverending Wheel of Time series. cool effect!!:) I've got Shake but I haven't had time to spend learning it yet.

Dogcat, its suppose to be vampire eyes. Like from "Interview with a Vampire". Except they used contacts. I'm also going to do some like this in blue.

Could you please tell us in simple steps how you managed to create this awesome effect? Good gob!

It looks like little brother is ready to go out and sap what's left of goodness in america. I like it.

Badlaa, here's some pictures of my project file to help you understand how I did this. Its really easy.

Dogcat, just wait until the video comes out. Going to start shooting in three weeks. Also I'm starting filming on a new short this coming Thursday, which has two assassins in it.

I've used Shake more than AE. But as I understand it you can do most of the same stuff with either program. I think it comes down to choice. But I'm not that heavy into the VFX so I might not be the best person to ask.

I think shake is more VFX/compositing oriented and After FX is more motion graphics oriented but they overlap a bunch....I havent used shake but this is kinda the jist i get from it all....shake is all like atleast 3x more expensive....i think when it comes to compositing its really powerful maybe that is the reason for the price diffrence...not really sure though.

shake is $500 now.

I've been looking into it lately but i'm more into mograph and that concerns me.
This effect looks really well done Drew.

yep, and $250 with the academic discount. AE is $700-$1,000 and if your on mac factor in the program automatic duck ($500)

AE has got it hands down if you want motion effects though. i like the compatibility between shake and FCP though.

Kendal, I changed the shape of the masks almost every frame. It takes a while but it looks so much better than trying to let the program figure it out.

Sounds good Drew. Glad to hear productions are under way. When are you going to start rocking the 35 adapters? I can see it in your' fiction stuff. I'm sure expense is one of the reasons, but if i ever get a system going, i'll lend it to you as down payment on a hit.
