GH4 YAGH price drop

Audio into the YAGH is good. Did a show with it and audio was so much easier to work with. We had a audio recordist and sent a feed direct to the YAGH. Never used the back up.

Seems like they're finally putting the price into the realm of "reasonable".

I wonder if a lack of sales had something to do with it...

The YAGH had another problem as design-wise it did live up to its name a bit too much. Hope a coming model will not be called YUCK..... ;-)

The new version still has latency issues, so they are calling it the "LAG" :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
Ha! LMAO

The power it needs ruins the YAGH. I liked it but you have to have a V Lock or gold mount to power the thing. Also the SDI out for 4K was clunky. All four must be used into the 7Q making it a mess. Using the HDMI out of the GH4 into the 7Q+ was great. So that leaves the audio. It's the best part of the YAGH and that problem has much easier solutions these days. Poor YAGH. You are a enginering nightmare. If a version 2 comes out with the GH5 it better not need an external battery and have updated SDI ports. Oh and that lag! Ugh...

I ended up going old school with an Anton Uni Pac belt because I had some Anton batts not getting used, I can power the GH4-YAGH for 8 hours and also power a field monitor using a power tap cable. I can wrap the belt around my tripod or around my waist when I need to go mobile. It's slightly annoying but sure better than when I used to carry a lead-acid battery around my waist.

Panny should package the YAGH with V-log. Probably a good way to clear stock.

V-Log should be free.

And YAGH came out when not many (none?) external recorders could accept the 4K signal via the HDMI. It demoed with AJA Ki Pro Quad for 10-bit out. The technology has moved on from there and now the device is nearly useless. IIRC, the original GH4+YAGH price was $3,300. Now, the combo is almost half off its original MSRP.

I have a Scarlet kit with a few RED BRICKS.

I would like to use them so Im picking up this cable for p-tap option.
