XLR input 1 not working

I have never once used my input one for a mic because I think the DVX manual says to put it in input 2, and switch both switches to 2 under the LCD screen.

I recently had to use 2 LAVs and I wanted to do one in input 1 and one in input 2 so one mic was Left and one was Right.

I got no response from input 1. Is there a switch or button or menu command that I am forgetting about to activate input 1?

ah fudge. i forgot about the line/mic switch on the front...

actually, this thread seems like a good place to raise my question: I am a new user of the DVX100B. Whenever I use my shotgun mic plugged into input 1, it only records in the left channel. How can I set the camera to record in both channels with the shotgun, as it does when I use the camera mic?

Plug it into input 2 and set both channels to input 2.
