I have a pelican 1610 hard case. The sucker is awesome. It is airtight and waterproof. Although I have a XL1-s, but the XL-2 should be right around the same size. I can fit the XL1-s in it with the lens detached as well as other accessories. If you plan on carrying it much of anywhere the 1610 is a big case though and gets heavy fast.
I don't know if you can get them in Europe, but I bought mine from EVS (www.evsonline.com).
Thanks Tecgumbo! The 1610 fits the Xl1 perfect, but unfortunately the XL2 is a bit longer, and has that accessory holder on the back that is screwed into the frame. So you have to remove the accessory holder or the sunhood of the 20x lens to fit into a 1610. also the VF has to sit on top, separately. XL2 owners have been better served by the 1650 case, or Petrol and Kata hard-sided soft cases, unless you are going into extreme situations and are needing a sealed foam padded case.
I'm pretty happy with the Tamrac soft case made for the XL1. I can drop my XL2 straight into the bag with everything attached, even the accessory bracket. I can do this while the bag is on my shoulder, so I don't have to put the bag down to get scuffed or dirty. This is great for run-and-gun stuff.
It has plenty of room for all of my crazy accessories and it was less than $200. It's not as protective as a hard case, but I treat my stuff well and I don't need to throw it around.
One other plus is it is small enough to serve as a "carry on" for the airlines. Now you can keep a real eye on your stuff!
