XL2 7" TFT LCD Video Monitor Recommendations?

Hey, I'm shooting with two XL2s and I think I going to go blind trying to see those little stock screens with my cameras way up on top of my tripods. Has anyone used those 7" TFT LCD monitors that mount in the hotshoe and if so is there much difference in the different kinds available? Are they good enough, for indoor filming, to see zebra stripes, etc? What are some pros and cons? Thanks very very much. Steve
p.s. Is anyone out there using a steadicam with an xl2 and if so is it a flyer or do you have any good or bad experiences you'd like to share about your image stablilzation system.

Well, zebra isn't going to output through those monitor. Image isn't going to be sharp, they're pretty low res. I suppose if you just need a larger viewing area then they would do fine, just more things to carry around.

I use the Vari-Zoom Z-TFT7 TFT Monitor Kit, mostly for focus and framing shots. It's fine, but leaves much to be desired for shooting 24P with a 35mm adapter. Works great otherwise, like when lighting is adequate and filming with stock lens.
