So when will Canon put that 21 megapixel chip in the 5d into a new video camera with a real zoom and good audio? XL-H2? A2?
Canonrumors.com mentioned something a few months ago about a camera similar to the XLH1 with an APS-C sensor, that will be usable with EOS lenses. Who knows when that will be out, but i look forward to it.

if they do make one, i sure hope it's not shaped like the xl series. they're too big for handheld and too poorly balanced for shoulder-mount

With an EOS system, balance will all depends on the lens of course. If you're using an L series 70-200, the balance will be offset quite a bit more than a 50mm or something. I personally don't have a problem with the balance of the XL2 (I haven't actually used an XLH1). Better than sony's HD1000u which is basically an HV10 inside a giant plastic shell.
